Job Summary
The Staff Land Tech is a technical specialist and highly skilled individual contributor level within the Land Department This role requires extensive experience managing administrative and technical duties related to land work, including researching complex land issues, monitoring time-sensitive deadlines, and preparing regulatory applications. The Staff Land Tech demonstrates advanced knowledge of title ownership and curative documentation, coordinates with stakeholders on acquisition and divestiture projects, and proposes and guides the development of new policies and procedures. The successful candidate works independently, provides accurate and timely data to other departments for reporting purposes, and is recognized as a mentor to junior-level technicians across the Land Tech team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, submit, and track proposal letters sent to partners on new wells, workovers, re-completions, and pluggings; serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex or disputed proposals.
- Route, track, and monitor election deadlines associated with election periods in relation to operated and non-operated properties; ensure timely and accurate elections across all applicable well programs.
- Calculate, validate, and troubleshoot complex working interest and net revenue interest ownership in wells, including non-standard or multi-party ownership situations.
- Apply advanced knowledge of title ownership and curative documentation; review and assess curative requirements, identify deficiencies, and coordinate resolution with landmen and legal stakeholders.
- Maintain and oversee accuracy of data in Land systems to ensure proper reporting to stakeholders; identify and correct data discrepancies and implement quality control practices.
- Lead the preparation, review, and monitoring of regulatory applications; coordinate with internal and external parties to ensure timely and compliant filings.
- Research and resolve complex contract, lease, title, and landowner issues; analyze multiple data sources, evaluate options, and deliver well-reasoned recommendations to landmen and leadership.
- Serve as the primary Land Tech resource for acquisition and divestiture projects, coordinating due diligence, data validation, ownership research, and documentation across project teams and stakeholders.
- Review and validate the work product of other Land Techs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company policies and contractual obligations.
- Propose and guide the development of new policies, procedures, workflows, and best practices to improve team efficiency, data quality, and compliance.
- Serve as the go-to resource for Land Tech systems questions, process guidance, and operational issues, including in the absence of the responsible landman.
- Identify, lead, and deliver on special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned by Land management.
- Provide training, knowledge transfer, and technical guidance to Land Tech staff at all levels; actively mentor junior-level technicians to support their development along the career ladder.

- Able to prepare and calculate complex working interest for well setup.
- Demonstrates skill in reviewing, preparing, coordinating, and timely filing regulatory applications with internal and external parties.
- Proficient in Land systems and applications (e.g., Quorum, Well Tracker, SAP) and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (or GED)
- Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
