Schedule: Two-Week Rotating Overnight Schedule

Week 1: Monday, Wednesday & Friday | 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
Week 2: Tuesday & Thursday | 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
Week 2 Weekend: Saturday & Sunday | 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is hiring a dependable Unarmed Patrol Security Officer to provide overnight security coverage across a large assigned area in Grand Mound, Iowa. This position requires frequent vehicle patrols, careful observation, and the ability to identify and report suspicious activity, trespassing, vandalism, or other security concerns.

The officer will operate independently for significant portions of the shift and must be comfortable covering a large area while maintaining consistent patrol activity. A strong candidate will demonstrate safe driving habits, reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate concerns promptly to site leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Patrol Operations

- Conduct scheduled vehicle patrols throughout the entire assigned area.

- Complete hourly patrols as required by post procedures.

- Cover designated roads, access points, perimeter areas, and other assigned locations.

- Maintain awareness of changing conditions throughout the patrol route.

- Operate the patrol vehicle safely and responsibly during overnight hours.

- Adjust driving practices for changing road, visibility, and weather conditions.

Security Observation

- Watch for suspicious persons, vehicles, activity, or unusual conditions.

- Look for signs of unauthorized entry, trespassing, vandalism, property damage, or other security concerns.

- Check designated areas during each patrol for conditions requiring attention.

- Maintain a visible security presence throughout the assigned territory.

- Promptly communicate significant observations to the appropriate site supervisor or manager.

Incident Reporting

- Report suspicious activity and security concerns as soon as reasonably possible.

- Provide clear and accurate information regarding observed incidents.

- Document patrol activity and noteworthy observations according to established procedures.

- Communicate relevant information during shift handoffs or supervisor updates.

- Follow company procedures and assignment-specific post orders when responding to incidents.

Access & Property Protection

- Monitor designated access routes and perimeter areas during vehicle patrols.

- Remain alert for unauthorized individuals or vehicles entering restricted areas.

- Identify signs of tampering, damage, or other unusual conditions.

- Support efforts to maintain secure conditions throughout the assigned area.

- Request additional assistance when a situation requires resources beyond the scope of the position.

Required Qualifications

- Valid driver's license required.

- Minimum of three years of driving experience.

- Must be approved to drive under the company's applicable insurance requirements.

- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Iowa Guard Card .

- Applicants must meet applicable licensing eligibility requirements, including restrictions related to felony or aggravated misdemeanor convictions.

- Ability to work an overnight rotating schedule.

- Strong observation and situational-awareness skills.

- Reliable attendance and punctuality.

- Ability to work independently for extended periods.

- Clear and professional communication skills.

- Ability to remain alert throughout overnight vehicle patrols.

- Ability to successfully complete required background and employment screening.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous security or patrol experience.

- Experience performing vehicle-based security patrols.

- Experience working independently during overnight shifts.

- Background in security, military, law enforcement, public safety, or a related field.

- Experience identifying suspicious activity, trespassing, vandalism, or property damage.

- Familiarity with incident reporting and electronic activity logs.

- Previous experience covering large or geographically dispersed areas.
