Accounts Receivable Specialist
Job Description The Accounts Receivable Specialist plays a key role on a growing accounting team by managing high-volume AIA and Time & Material (T&M) billing. This position focuses on ensuring invoice accuracy, completing client-required documentation, and supporting month-end billing processes. The role is well suited for someone with 12 years of billing or accounts receivable experience, preferably in the construction industry, who enjoys working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and takes pride in maintaining organized and accurate financial records. Responsibilities
- Prepare and process high-volume AIA and Time & Material (T&M) billings on a monthly basis.
- Manage approximately 100 AIA billings and 700 T&M billings each month while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
- Review all billing information for accuracy and completeness prior to invoice submission.
- Complete and compile client-specific billing forms and supporting documentation required with invoices.
- Upload invoices and all supporting documents into customer billing portals according to client requirements.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure invoices are prepared correctly and ready for customer submission.
- Maintain organized electronic records of billing documentation and supporting files for easy retrieval and audit readiness.
- Scan and upload documents into the company network as part of month-end close activities.
- Use Bluebeam to scan, organize, and file documents within MDrive following established naming conventions.
- Assist with additional accounts receivable and billing-related tasks as needed to support the overall accounting function.
Essential Skills
- 12 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, billing, or related accounting functions.
- Hands-on experience processing AIA billings and/or Time & Material (T&M) billings.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to invoice accuracy and data integrity.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain structured electronic records.
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of transactions while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including strong skills in Excel.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders such as Project Managers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience within the construction industry, particularly with construction-related billing and invoicing.
- Familiarity with AIA billing processes and construction invoicing requirements.
- Experience using Bluebeam or similar document management and PDF markup software.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with high invoice volumes, including approximately 700 invoices and 100 AIA invoices per month.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with both internal teams and external clients.

This is a Contract position based out of Sterling, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
