Job Title: Project Manager Job Description The Project Manager oversees planning, execution, and closeout of K12 education construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with quality and safety standards. This role leads cross-functional teams, manages contracts and financial performance, and serves as a key liaison between owners, design partners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Manage overall project planning, execution, budgeting, scheduling, documentation, communication, and project closeout for K12 education construction projects.
- Lead regular project meetings with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules, milestones, procurement plans, and critical path activities to keep the project on track.
- Review and manage contracts, subcontracts, scopes of work, change orders, pay applications, invoices, and all project-related correspondence.
- Track project costs, forecast financial performance, manage change events, and support project profitability goals through effective cost control.
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents to monitor field progress, quality of work, safety practices, inspections, logistics, and timely issue resolution.
- Identify project risks early, resolve conflicts, remove roadblocks, and clearly communicate project status to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Ensure all work complies with construction drawings, specifications, permits, building codes, safety requirements, and internal company standards.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and project financial reports to guide decision-making.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams through strong communication and collaboration.
- Manage multiple priorities simultaneously, solve problems quickly, and negotiate effectively while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Champion a strong focus on safety, quality, customer service, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills
- 35 years of project management experience in construction, preferably on K12 education projects.
- K12 education project experience is required.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, project sequencing, contract administration, cost control, scheduling, and subcontractor management.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and project financial reports.
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination and managing change orders in a construction environment.
- Strong leadership skills with a high sense of accountability, organization, and follow-through.
- Effective decision-making abilities with a track record of resolving project issues and removing obstacles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam for document review and markup.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems quickly, negotiate effectively, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, customer service, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with general contractors on commercial construction projects.
- construction management or related education is beneficial.
- Comfort leading meetings with diverse stakeholders including owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to forecast project financial performance and support profitability goals.
- Experience coordinating field activities with Superintendents to maintain progress, safety, and quality.
- Strong organizational skills for managing documentation, correspondence, and project records.
Work Environment This role is primarily onsite at construction project locations in the Lakeland/Polk area, working closely with field and office teams in an active K12 education construction environment. The work involves regular interaction with owners, design professionals, subcontractors, and vendors, as well as coordination with Superintendents and field staff. The company promotes a strong, long-term culture focused on retaining team members through to retirement, emphasizing safety, quality, teamwork, and professional growth. Work is performed using tools such as Microsoft Office, Procore, and Bluebeam, with frequent site visits, meetings, and collaboration in a fast-paced setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeland, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $115000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
