Commercial Manager - Permanent - Perth

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our Procurement team and play a key role in maximising value across Western Power's contract portfolio. In this influential position, you will drive improved service, quality, compliance and safety outcomes while reducing commercial risk and delivering sustainable cost efficiencies.

You will provide strategic commercial thought leadership across supplier contracts, helping to unlock value through effective contract management, supplier relationship management and commercial decision-making. The role forms part of a team that is focused on technology, professional and corporate services, and power generation contracts, with many a key enabler in Western Power decarbonisation activities.

This role also provides specialist commercial expertise across strategy development, contract negotiations, dispute resolution and risk management, supporting high-value, complex and commercially significant transactions. Your Role in Action

- Drive value across a diverse and strategically important portfolio of contracts, improving service, quality, compliance and safety outcomes while identifying opportunities to reduce costs, manage risk and maximise commercial performance.

- Lead complex commercial negotiations, claims, variations and dispute resolution activities, delivering outcomes that protect Western Power's interests while maintaining strong, collaborative supplier and customer relationships.

- Provide expert commercial advice on high-value, high-risk and business-critical transactions, supporting informed decision-making across a range of complex contractual and commercial arrangements.

- Partner with stakeholders across the business from the earliest stages of procurement and contract planning to identify risks, unlock opportunities and shape successful commercial strategies.

- Influence key internal and external stakeholders to strengthen commercial outcomes, improve contract performance and drive greater value from supplier and customer engagements.

- Lead and support contract governance activities, including spend management, compliance, commercial performance monitoring and the consistent application of contract management frameworks and procurement best practice.

- Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives, process improvements and continuous improvement opportunities, leveraging commercial insights and data to enhance business outcomes.

- Support supply chain planning, portfolio strategies, forecasting, budgeting, risk management and reporting activities, contributing to the delivery of sustainable commercial solutions aligned to Western Power's long-term objectives.

What Makes You a Great Fit

- Knowledge of contract and commercial frameworks, including Australian Standard contracts and relevant legislation, with the ability to apply this knowledge to complex commercial and contractual arrangements.

- Sound understanding of commercial risk, governance and compliance principles, with experience applying these within procurement, contract management or supply chain environments.

- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to lead complex, high-value commercial transactions, contract negotiations and dispute resolution activities.

- Highly developed commercial acumen, supported by strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, enabling you to navigate complexity and identify opportunities for sustainable business outcomes.

- Proven experience developing and delivering procurement, commercial or supply chain strategies that drive value, manage risk and support broader business objectives.

- Strong financial literacy, including the ability to interpret, evaluate and challenge financial information, pricing structures and commercial models.
