Senior Digital Health Framework Lead

Join Boehringer Ingelheim's IT Marketing & Sales organization and help enable scalable digital-health solutions across Healthcare Professional, Patient Services and Commercial functions. As Senior IMPS Framework Lead, you will own the technical integrity, controlled evolution, governance and enterprise adoption of the IMPS Framework within Boehringer Ingelheim. You will ensure that framework capabilities are reusable, secure, supportable and aligned with enterprise architecture, quality, privacy, cybersecurity and regulated-software expectations. You will combine hands-on architecture expertise with framework product ownership and cross-organizational leadership. Working across internal teams and vendors, you will guide framework changes, enable solution teams and prevent fragmented or unsupported implementations.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Own the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap of the IMPS Framework, ensuring scalability, reusability, security, and long-term sustainability.
- Drive framework evolution by defining core capabilities, platform standards, and reusable components that accelerate Digital Health and SaMD solution delivery.
- Lead architecture reviews and provide technical leadership for cloud-native, API-first, and modular solution development.
- Embed quality, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance by design across the framework and its implementations.
- Establish engineering best practices, developer standards, and automation capabilities to enable efficient and reliable software delivery.
- Collaborate with product teams, business stakeholders, and external partners to drive framework adoption, continuous improvement, and strategic technology decisions.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience brining digital products to the market
- Demonstrated experience designing, extending or governing modular software frameworks or enterprise platforms.
- Deep knowledge of microservices, micro-frontends, API-first design, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, versioning and dependency management.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot, React, Kafka, PostgreSQL and modern software-engineering practices. Comparable enterprise technology stacks are acceptable where the underlying architectural experience is strong.
- Strong expertise in cloud-native engineering, including AWS or comparable enterprise cloud platforms, OpenShift or Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability and DevSecOps.
- Demonstrated experience with Software as a Medical Device or regulated digital-health solutions.
- Good knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 14971 and ISO 13485, including their implications for software lifecycle, risk management, traceability, verification, validation and change control.
- Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and integration patterns, especially FHIR, HL7, EHR/EMR and device integration.
- Experience applying security, privacy and identity-by-design principles to enterprise or healthcare platforms.
- Experience with framework governance, architecture reviews, contribution models, release management, technical debt and product-roadmap prioritization.
- Ability to lead across internal teams, external suppliers, architecture, cybersecurity, quality, infrastructure, product and business stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions, risks and trade-offs to senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of Agile product delivery, including Scrum, Kanban, iterative planning and continuous improvement.
- Fluent English is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with the IMPS Framework or comparable reusable digital-health platform frameworks.
- Experience working within a global pharmaceutical, life-sciences, medical-device or digital-health organization.
- Experience managing supplier-owned frameworks, source-code handovers, support boundaries, licensing or intellectual-property considerations in collaboration with legal and sourcing functions.
- Experience establishing developer communities, reference implementations, engineering standards and onboarding practices.
- Experience with automated quality engineering, integration testing, performance testing, security testing and release governance.
