Senior Platform Engineer (Azure Platform & DevOps)

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the design, automation, reliability, and operational excellence of a business-critical Azure-based data and reporting platform. This role will be responsible for establishing a robust and highly available platform foundation, ensuring seamless collaboration between data engineering and infrastructure teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong Azure platform expertise with deep knowledge of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and enterprise operations. They will play a key role in building a scalable, secure, and resilient platform capable of supporting mission-critical reporting and external-facing data products.

Key Responsibilities

- Own and drive CI/CD implementation, release management, and deployment automation.

- Act as the technical liaison between engineering and infrastructure teams.

- Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.

- Establish and manage monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability frameworks.

- Define and implement backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.

- Ensure platform reliability, resilience, performance, and maintainability.

- Implement and promote operational best practices, governance standards, and security controls.

- Support platform scalability and availability requirements in SLA-driven environments.

- Identify opportunities for automation and continuous operational improvement.

- Contribute to architecture discussions and platform engineering decisions.

Required Experience & Skills

- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure platform services and cloud infrastructure.

- Extensive hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.

- Experience with Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or similar automation technologies.

- Strong understanding of monitoring, logging, observability, and operational excellence practices.

- Proven experience designing and supporting highly available and resilient cloud platforms.

- Experience with disaster recovery, backup and restore processes, and business continuity planning.

- Knowledge of security, governance, compliance, and platform engineering best practices.

- Familiarity with enterprise-scale operational environments and SLA-driven service delivery.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, infrastructure, and operations functions.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting Azure Databricks environments.

- Knowledge of Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and modern data platforms.

- Experience with cloud security frameworks and governance models.

- Azure certifications in administration, architecture, or DevOps.

- Experience working within large-scale enterprise data and analytics programs.

What Success Looks Like

In the early phase of the project, the successful candidate will focus on:

- Establishing a robust Azure platform foundation.

- Implementing automated CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices.

- Defining monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational processes.

- Designing platform resilience, backup, and disaster recovery capabilities.

- Supporting the delivery of a highly available platform targeting 99.5% uptime or higher.

- Creating strong collaboration models between engineering and infrastructure teams.

- Ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, maintainable, and ready to support business-critical workloads.
