TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is currently hiring an ITS Technician II in Orlando, Florida.
Job Summary: The Technician II performs on-site and in-house servicing, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of customer equipment and related systems. This position provides intermediate-level technical support for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and associated infrastructure. Incumbents are gaining or have attained full proficiency within their area of responsibility and perform preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment installation, system upgrades, modifications, programming, testing, and documentation activities. General supervision and guidance are provided for routine work, while detailed instructions may be provided for new assignments or special projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform on-site servicing, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of customer equipment and related systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PC-based computers, video surveillance equipment, network communications equipment, radio equipment, closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems, microwave vehicle detection systems (MVDS), dynamic message signs (DMS), and other ITS-related equipment.
- Install, configure, maintain, and repair electronic equipment, wiring, component systems, firmware, and associated hardware, including upgrades and modifications.
- Respond to maintenance requests, service calls, and system alarms within established timeframes.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and system issues and restore equipment to operational status.
- Conduct field testing and verification of equipment and systems.
- Complete reports, logs, work orders, utility locate documentation, photographs, and other records in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.
- Maintain spare equipment, tools, inventory, and replacement parts in accordance with established guidelines.
- Perform utility locates and accurately identify, mark, and document underground utilities as required.
- Read and interpret maps, schematics, construction plans, and technical documentation.
- Comply with all applicable safety policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Typically requires 2-5 years of related experience.
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record that meets TransCore's driving requirements.
- Ability to safely perform work at heights, including heights exceeding 50 feet, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Experience with ITS, communications, networking, fiber optic, electronic, or transportation technology systems preferred.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and communications technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment, software, and system issues.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, test equipment, and digital multimeters.
- Ability to perform utility locates and document findings accurately.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, schematics, construction plans, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and TCP/IP networking concepts.
- Ability to learn new technologies, equipment, tools, and processes.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- FDOT-approved TTC certification preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

This position may require work in indoor and outdoor environments, including work at elevated heights using ladders, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, or similar equipment, and exposure to varying weather conditions, moving mechanical equipment, traffic, noise, dust, and other conditions commonly associated with field service, maintenance, and utility locating operations. Travel to customer, project, or work locations may be required.
