About this role
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and reconfirm the vehicle paint color code provided by the Painter before preparing the required paint mixture.
- Mix paint according to the approved color formula and required volume based on the number of panels being repaired.
- Perform color matching and manual color adjustments to achieve the required shade.
- Prepare spray samples or test plates to verify color accuracy and identify shade variations before application.
- Retrieve paint formulas from the relevant system using basic computer applications.
- Calculate and prepare the required quantities of paint, lacquer, solvent, thinner, and other materials according to standard formulas.
- Maintain accurate records of paint materials and consumables used in the Body Shop.
- Monitor paint and consumable stock levels and prepare ordering lists when replenishment is required.
- Liaise with the Purchase Department to arrange the ordering of paint materials and required consumables.
- Monitor paint booth filter stock levels and coordinate replenishment with the Purchase Department.
- Maintain and regularly update the paint booth maintenance logbook .
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department regarding scheduled and required paint booth maintenance.
- Ensure paint mixing and preparation activities are carried out accurately and in accordance with Body Shop procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company QHSE and health & safety procedures .
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader – Painting / Body Shop Supervisor.
Role Purpose
To ensure accurate and consistent paint preparation and color matching for vehicles repaired in the Body Shop, supporting high-quality painting results while maintaining proper control of paint materials, consumables, equipment, and stock levels.
What We're Looking For:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in automotive painting, paint mixing, or a similar Body Shop environment .
Education: High School or equivalent qualification.
Technical Skills:
- Good knowledge of automotive paint mixing and preparation .
- Practical experience with vehicle color matching and shade adjustment .
- Ability to understand and work with paint color codes and formulas.
- Experience preparing test panels/spray samples for color verification.
- Knowledge of paint, lacquer, solvent, thinner, and other automotive paint materials.
- Ability to calculate and prepare the correct quantity of paint required for vehicle panels.
- Knowledge of paint booth operations and basic maintenance requirements.
- Experience monitoring paint and consumable stock levels.
- Ability to maintain accurate material and maintenance records.
