Road & Rail Services is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to support our operation in Mulberry, Florida .

This is a hands-on mechanical position responsible for keeping diesel-powered vehicles, heavy equipment, and specialized rail-related equipment operating safely and reliably. We're looking for a mechanic who can do more than basic preventive maintenance-you should be comfortable diagnosing problems, troubleshooting systems, determining repair needs, and completing repairs with limited supervision .

Starting pay is $26.00 per hour, with the ability to negotiate higher compensation based on your experience and qualifications.

What You'll Be Responsible For

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will diagnose, service, and repair equipment used to support daily operations. Responsibilities include:

Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related components

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system problems

Identify the source of equipment failures and determine appropriate repairs

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and equipment inspections

Repair and replace hydraulic hoses, cylinders, pumps, fittings, and related components

Diagnose electrical problems involving wiring, batteries, starters, charging systems, and other components

Remove and replace damaged or worn mechanical parts

Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and mechanical modifications when necessary

Inspect equipment for developing problems before they result in breakdowns

Respond to equipment failures and prioritize repairs based on operational needs

Perform repairs both inside the shop and outdoors in field conditions

Test equipment following repairs to verify proper operation

Maintain accurate records of maintenance and completed repairs

Keep tools, parts, and work areas organized

Follow company safety requirements and equipment procedures

Equipment You'll Work On

Diesel-powered vehicles

Heavy equipment

Material-handling equipment

Specialized railroad and track equipment

Hydraulic systems

Electrical systems

Mechanical components and attachments

What We're Looking For

This position is intended for an experienced mechanic . Candidates should have:

Professional experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines

Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills

Experience performing hands-on equipment repairs

Working knowledge of hydraulic systems

Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical and mechanical problems

Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools

Ability to determine repair priorities and work independently

Strong attention to safety and equipment condition

Dependable attendance and punctuality

Ability to communicate repair needs and equipment status effectively

Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position

Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions

Experience with heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, fleet vehicles, industrial machinery, or railroad equipment is highly relevant.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting Pay: $26.00 per hour

Higher starting pay may be negotiated based on relevant diesel, heavy-equipment, hydraulic, electrical, welding, and mechanical repair experience.
