Meritus Health is seeking a Coordinator, Nutrition Services to help lead daily food production and service operations. Under the direction of the Nutrition Services Managers, this position coordinates staff activities, supports quality and sanitation standards, assists with scheduling and employee performance, and helps ensure efficient and timely service for patients, staff, and visitors.
The Coordinator serves as a working lead and helps maintain compliance with Joint Commission, Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Washington County Health Department, and departmental policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate staffing and schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for upcoming shifts.
- Obtain qualified replacements when needed while following departmental scheduling policies.
- Serve as a working lead and coordinate daily food-service operations.
- Monitor employee productivity and recommend opportunities to improve service and efficiency.
- Support opening, closing, and daily operational procedures, including cash-handling controls.
- Promote a safe working environment and report accidents or injuries according to policy.
- Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment, refrigerators, floors, walls, and other food-service areas.
- Monitor refrigeration and dish-machine temperatures and ensure HACCP and sanitation standards are followed.
- Conduct required environmental and food-safety checks and report concerns appropriately.
- Provide education and direction to employees regarding job duties, safety, sanitation, and standardized recipes.
- Assist with employee performance monitoring, scheduling, orientation, and training.
- Work in various positions as needed to support quality and timely service.
- Assist department management with achieving departmental goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: 2–5 years of supervisory or lead experience required. Previous healthcare or food-service experience, or appropriate education, is preferred.
Certification: Current ServSafe Food Safety Manager certification preferred.
