About this role

Are you a skilled mechanical expert ready to manage and maintain critical infrastructure? As a Mechanical Repair Worker I, you will be the backbone of our operations, ensuring the seamless functionality of essential systems like mobile vehicle exhaust rails and climate control air compressors across our core facilities. You will apply your expertise to swiftly identify mechanical failures, troubleshoot complex, interconnected systems, and proactively prevent unscheduled breakdowns, contributing directly to safe and efficient facility operations.

What will you do?

- Working with and under the direction of a Maintenance Repair Person II
- Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and service of air compressors and associated piping
- Maintain and service rail-mounted, mobile vehicle exhaust conveyance systems
- Troubleshoot low voltage electrical systems and rotating equipment
- Triage requests and direct the work of other maintenance repair workers
- Coordinate service outages in core buildings with tenants and emergency services
- Manage inventory for parts with long delivery times and keep accurate maintenance records
Qualifications

- Completion of Grade 10
- Experience and familiarity with a variety of building mechanical systems

Skills required for success:

- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of building mechanical systems
- Ability to read and understand technical service manuals
- Effective written and oral communication, including conflict resolution

Conditions of Employment:

- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent)
- Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Salary Range: $36.869 (Hourly); $76,982.470 (Annually)
