Job Title: Senior Buyer Job Description The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing relationships with current suppliers and cultivating relationships with new suppliers. This role involves overseeing the company's spending to reduce costs, enhance profits, and improve efficiency. Additionally, the Senior Buyer will track supplier performance to ensure quality and timely delivery. Responsibilities

- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, procedures, and terms & conditions.
- Collaborate with product engineering and quality organizations to define detailed supplier requirements.
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
- Prepare bid awards requiring board approval.
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.
- Administer online purchasing systems.
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans.
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment or products.
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
- Negotiate contracts and formulate policies with suppliers.
- Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
- Arrange for disposal of surplus materials.
- Develop operating strategies, plans, or procedures.
- Implement organizational process or policy changes.
- Interview employees, customers, or others to collect information and coordinate with external parties to exchange information.

Essential Skills

- 5+ years of professional experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Experience with FCA, GM, Ford, Volkswagen, and/or Honda preferred. Experience with other automotive OEMs or tier 1 suppliers will be considered.
- High Mix Low Volume work experience.
- Powertrain, driveline, or brake line purchasing experience.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of cost modeling, market analysis, and market supply.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple programs and customers.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in purchasing, supply chain, business, technical, or related field.

Work Environment The position will be on-site 5 days a week with a schedule of Monday - Friday, either 8am - 5pm or 9am - 6pm.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Chesterfield, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $88000.00 - $125000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Company does have a competitive benefits package and a bonus program and structure in place.
