About this role
The University of Virginia Darden School of Business Video Production Team has a challenging and exciting opportunity for a Video Editor & Motion Graphics Animator to collaborate in the development of content for online and in-person course offerings, as well as internal and external communications.
The Video Editor & Motion Graphics Animator reports directly to the Associate Director for Post-Production & Systems Integration as part of the video production team. Our team strives to provide a flexible work environment; however, this position is not a remote job, and the successful candidate will be required to live in our market, participate in our team’s work, and conduct the work in-person.
Occasional travel required.
Responsibilities Include:
Video Editing and Animation:
• Collaborates with a team of project managers including video producers, instructional designers, graphic designers, executive education program managers, faculty, and other communicators within the enterprise.
• Receives and carries out assigned editing projects and tasks from concept to completion. This includes the creation and use of graphics and motion animation and adherence to set branding and style guidelines.
• Maintains a best-practices skillset in specialized video editing, motion graphics animation, and the use of A.I. toolsets through training, practice, and a view of industry trends. The successful candidate will bring new ideas, innovation, and creativity to Darden’s video products.
• Remains current with best practices in the field of graphic design application and visual trends, including accessible design, seeking additional training when necessary.
Other tasks, as assigned, will include:
• Operational tasks including backups, archiving, and file organization for media delivery on various platforms.
• Assistance in management and organization of related server and cloud-based systems used in the production, delivery, and archiving of Darden Video Production products.
• Performing updates on computing hardware and software used for video production and post-production.
• Assisting video producers, in both technical positions and gripping, for in-studio and on-location video production, as well as duties and responsibilities for audio podcast production and editing will be required.
• The successful candidate may be asked to assist in the mentoring of student temp workers/interns, or freelance workers, in video editing techniques and departmental procedural tasks as needed.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs. is required.
Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience required. Degree in Communications or Visual Media Production preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Demonstrated knowledge and high proficiency in video editing, along with experience in the creation of motion graphics templates and video animations is required.
• Demonstrated experience using the following applications is strongly preferred... Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Audition, Vyond.
• Demonstrated general knowledge of video production principles and a willingness to train as needed to assist in production crew roles, such as camera, audio, and teleprompter operation, is required.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team with professionalism, respect, and emotional awareness.
• Demonstrates the ability to give and receive feedback constructively.
• Operates effectively within established team and organizational norms.
• Detail oriented and proficient in the Microsoft Windows PC environment and have a demonstrated knowledge of the inner workings of computer workstations, with the ability to update and replace physical parts, as well as update and maintain software applications and operating systems.
• Proficient with Office suite tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and cloud storage services such as Kaltura and Hightail
