Position Summary

The Sr Banking Operations Associate in the Quality Control Team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance processes across banking operations. This position oversees the review and validation of transaction accuracy, control effectiveness, and compliance adherence across multiple operational areas. The role includes leading error identification and root cause analysis, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring all banking operations meet internal control standards and regulatory requirements. This position also serves as a subject matter expert for training and mentoring team members on QC processes and control best practices.

Position Responsibilities

- Design and execute comprehensive quality control review protocols across banking operations, including transaction sampling, exception identification, and accuracy validation; escalate findings with documentation and remediation recommendations.
- Serve as system and process expert in banking operations control environment and QC methodologies; provide guidance on control design, testing procedures, and implementation of enhancements.
- Identify control gaps and operational risks through analysis of transaction patterns, exception reports, and process walkthroughs; document findings and collaborate with stakeholders on remediation strategies.
- Lead root cause analysis investigations on operational errors and control failures; develop and recommend corrective action plans with accountability and timeline tracking.
- Prepare monthly quality control reports, control effectiveness assessments, and variance analysis in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Train team members and department staff on QC standards, control procedures, and quality expectations; identify systemic training needs and escalate to management.
- Collaborate with internal audit, compliance, and operational teams to support audit preparation, regulatory examinations, and control validation activities.
- Mentor junior QC team members on audit techniques, error investigation, and best practices; provide coaching and feedback on performance and development.
- Develop and maintain QC documentation, testing matrices, and policy procedures; recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and control effectiveness.
- Assist with special projects as a subject matter expert on operational controls and quality assurance for Banking Operations.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred; commensurate banking operations or audit experience will be considered.
- 5–8 years of banking operations, quality control, or internal audit experience required; experience in a credit operations, payments, or accounting operations environment preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in control environment design, risk assessment, and audit/QC methodologies.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to investigate complex operational issues and make sound independent judgment on control remediation.
- Excellent understanding of banking compliance requirements, regulatory expectations, and SOX control frameworks.
- Superior oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, audit personnel, and operations staff.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with ability to mentor and coach team members.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with strong attention to detail and independent judgment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a proactive, self-directed manner.
- High proficiency with MS Excel and experience with database queries, control testing tools, or banking operations systems.
- Strong collaborative skills with ability to work effectively across departments and influence stakeholders on control recommendations.
