The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for the clinical vision of Venice Family Clinic and provides clinical oversight of all clinical programs, including those involving medical residents, students, and their faculty. He/she partners with the clinical, operations, program, and administrative staff and volunteers to identify new programs, evaluate existing programs, and determine which programs and clinical interventions best serve VFC patients. They are responsible for both the productivity of the clinical staff and the quality of care delivered by staff and volunteer medical clinicians.
The Chief Medical Officer directly supervises the Associate Medical Directors, Director, Managed Care & Care Coordination and Director of Behavioral Health and the Chief Medical Information Officer.
The CMO participates in clinical risk management, compliance, and patient safety. The CMO is responsible for overseeing all peer review, credentialing, and privileging activities. Clinical care accounts for 35% of the CMO’s work duties, with administrative and supervisory responsibilities accounting for the other 65%. The target salary range for this role is: $260,600- $390,000 annual.
- Board-certified in Family Medicine, Med/Peds, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics, required.
- MD or DO degree, required.
- An active, CA license & DEA license, re-quired.
- At least 7 years of experience as a primary care physician, required.
- At least five years of experience in a leadership position in a primary health care setting, required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical problems of medically underserved populations, including persons experiencing homelessness, preferred.
- Experience supervising clinical and physician staff, preferred.
- Understanding of Clinic/FQHC operations, strongly preferred.
- Previous experience as a volunteer, staff member, or faculty member in a setting serving underserved people, preferred.
- Ability to speak Spanish, preferred.
- Experience with Epic, preferred.
