About the team and the role:

The Cloud Infrastructure team at eBay is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join the team in Dublin, Ireland. You will help design, develop, deploy, and operate reliable, scalable self-service platforms that support the application lifecycle for eBay’s products and services.

The role focuses on cloud-native technologies, particularly containers and Kubernetes, and involves close collaboration with internal customers, partners, and cross-functional teams. You will improve platform reliability, observability, performance, automation, and deployment processes across eBay’s cloud services.

What you will accomplish:

- Improve the reliability, scalability, efficiency, and security compliance of cloud products that support eBay’s products and services.
- Strengthen observability across cloud services through comprehensive monitoring and alerting practices.
- Respond to cloud incidents, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and maintain incident response plans to reduce recurrence.
- Analyze system performance and implement improvements that optimize resource utilization and application performance.
- Improve CI/CD processes to increase deployment velocity and reliability.
- Develop and maintain automation that streamlines operations, reduces manual work, and improves system reliability.
- Collaborate with internal customers, partners, and cross-functional teams to deliver key business outcomes.

What you will bring:

- 3+ years of programming experience with Go or Python, alongside 3+ years of experience implementing large-scale, distributed, highly available, fault-tolerant systems and infrastructure in production environments.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes in an SRE or related cloud infrastructure role; experience developing with Kubernetes and/or building Kubernetes controllers is highly desirable.
- Experience with observability tools and practices, with a focus on improving system reliability and performance.
- Strong understanding of API design and RESTful principles, including experience building web services at scale.
- Experience delivering products in cross-functional teams; knowledge of Agile development methodologies and application lifecycle management or CI/CD is beneficial.
- Experience working in high-traffic, large-scale environments. Familiarity with additional programming languages or frameworks and participation in open-source standards or projects are beneficial.
- Kubernetes, lifecycle management, or related certifications are beneficial. This role is based in Dublin, Ireland.
