About this role

JOB PURPOSE

Support in managing the commercial, contractual, and regulatory obligations arising from Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for Thermal, Hydro And Solar, Fuel Supply Agreements (FSAs), transmission agreements, and related statutory frameworks. The role is responsible for support in contract administration, billing and revenue assurance, regulatory compliance, stakeholder coordination, dispute management, and monitoring policy developments impacting the business.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accountabilities
POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENT (PPA) MANAGEMENT
•Monitor compliance with obligations under long-term, medium-term, and short-term PPAs.
•Administer contractual provisions relating to tariff, availability, scheduling, dispatch, energy accounting, and payment security mechanisms.
•Interpret contract clauses and provide commercial guidance to internal stakeholders.
•Review PPAs, supplements, amendments, and commercial agreements.
•Identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation measures.

BILLING AND REVENUE MANAGEMENT
•Preparation of monthly invoices and supplementary bills, along with rebate calculations, surcharge claims, and adjustments.
•Monitor receivables and payment realization from procurers.
•Coordinate with finance, commercial, and beneficiary utilities regarding invoice disputes.
•Analyze tariff orders and assess impact on billing and revenue.
•Maintain revenue realization and outstanding trackers.

REGULATORY AFFAIRS AND COMPLIANCE
•Track developments in CERC, concerned SERCs and Ministry notifications affecting the business.
•Prepare draft regulatory impact assessments and management notes.
•Draft comments on consultation papers, draft regulations, staff papers, and policy amendments.
•Support filing of petitions, affidavits, rejoinders, and submissions before regulatory commissions.
•Monitor compliance requirements arising from regulatory orders and statutory obligations.
•Draft management notes, regulatory briefs, and executive summaries.
•Maintain repository of contracts, orders, regulations, and commercial correspondence.
•Support in analyzing tariff mechanisms, escalation provisions, change-in-law claims, DSM implications, transmission charges, and regulatory liabilities.
Scheduling, Energy Accounting & DSM Monitoring
•Monitor declared capacity, scheduling, dispatch instructions, and energy accounting.
•Review RLDC / SLDC reports and settlement statements.
•Analyze DSM, deviation charges, and operational implications.
•Coordinate with plant operations and scheduling teams to optimize contractual performance.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT AND SOP DEVELOPMENT
•Support in developing / update SOPs for:
PPA administration
Billing processes
Regulatory compliance
Energy accounting
•Drive process automation through Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, or ERP platforms.
•Improve reporting systems and compliance tracking mechanisms.
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
•Liaise with:
Procurers and DISCOMs
Regulatory authorities
Legal consultants
Finance and Operations teams
Transmission and scheduling agencies
•Coordinate resolution of commercial and contractual issues.

EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

- B.E. / B.Tech (Electrical / Mechanical / Power Engineering) OR

- MBA (Power Management/Finance/Operations) OR

- Degree in Engineering with specialization in energy sector

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

5-8 years of experience in:

- PPA Management
