What you'll be doing
As an Associate, Correspondent Banking, you will play a key role in supporting the growth of CIBC's global Correspondent Banking franchise. Working closely with the Head of CAD Clearing & Client Management and senior members of the Correspondent Banking team, you will help identify, pursue, and onboard new financial institution clients while supporting the delivery of CIBC's Canadian Dollar clearing, payments, deposits, liquidity, and trade finance solutions. This is a front-office business development role focused on client acquisition, sales support, market intelligence, and onboarding execution. The Associate, Correspondent Banking will work with financial institution clients globally, including banks, broker dealers, futures commission merchants (FCMs), asset managers, payment companies, and other financial market participants. You will gain exposure to a broad range of Global Transaction Banking and Capital Markets products while working closely with senior leaders, product partners, and clients across North America, EMEA, and APAC. You will work alongside experienced professionals across Global Transaction Banking, Capital Markets, Treasury, Operations, and Risk Management, providing valuable opportunities to build relationships, develop expertise, and accelerate your career growth.

How you'll succeed
- Business Development & Origination - Support the acquisition of new correspondent banking clients by identifying prospects and business opportunities across targeted financial institution segments. Conduct market and industry research to identify emerging trends, new market entrants, competitive developments, and potential client opportunities. Assist in the development and execution of client acquisition strategies and sales campaigns. Support prospect meetings, industry conferences, client presentations, and relationship-building initiatives. Maintain business development pipelines, opportunity trackers, and sales reporting. Prepare revenue analyses, client business cases, profitability assessments, and strategic recommendations. Support cross-selling opportunities across Global Transaction Banking and the broader Capital Markets platform.
- Sales Support & Client Engagement - Support the end-to-end sales process from prospect identification through onboarding and implementation. Coordinate responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs), due diligence questionnaires, and other client information requests. Respond to client inquiries and requests, coordinating with internal stakeholders to provide timely, accurate, and professional responses. Prepare pitch books, client presentations, marketing materials, and sales proposals. Support the development of pricing proposals and customized client solutions. Act as a key point of coordination for prospective clients throughout the sales and onboarding process. Assist with preparing meeting materials, client briefing notes, call reports, and follow-up action items.
- Client Onboarding & Implementation - Coordinate onboarding activities for new correspondent banking relationships and products. Partner with Compliance, Legal, Credit, Operations, Treasury, and Product teams to facilitate successful implementation. Monitor onboarding milestones and proactively identify and escalate issues impacting implementation timelines. Support account opening, KYC, AML, documentation, and approval processes. Assist in ensuring new opportunities progress efficiently through internal governance and risk approval processes. Track onboarding progress and provide regular status updates to business stakeholders.
- Market Intelligence & Strategic Initiatives - Monitor developments within the global banking, payments, liquidity, and correspondent banking sectors. Analyze competitor offerings, market trends, and emerging opportunities. Prepare management presentations, briefing materials, and business development reports. Support strategic initiatives designed to grow CIBC's Correspondent Banking franchise and enhance client acquisition efforts. Contribute ideas that improve the client experience and increase operational efficiency.
- Internal Collaboration - Build strong partnerships with colleagues across Global Transaction Banking, Global Markets, Treasury Solutions, Trade Finance, Product Management, Operations, Risk Management, Compliance, and Financial Crimes. Collaborate with product specialists to identify opportunities and deliver integrated client solutions. Support a high-performance team culture focused on growth, innovation, accountability, and client success.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate experience. In corporate banking, transaction banking, treasury services, correspondent banking, payments, capital markets, consulting, financial institutions coverage, and/or a related financial services environment. You have experience supporting client-facing business development, sales initiatives, or client acquisition activities. You have experience preparing presentations, business cases, financial analysis, and management reporting.
- You have a degree. In Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, and/or a related discipline. MBA, Master of Finance, Master of Economics, Master of Financial Risk Management, or a similar graduate degree is considered a strong asset. Professional designations such as CFA, CSC, CTP, FRM, or related credentials are considered an asset.
