About this role
About the Positions
We’re seeking Construction Inspectors of various skill levels to support large, complex heavy civil infrastructure programs, including highways, roads, bridges, transit (bus and rail), aviation (international airports), and water/wastewater projects delivered through both traditional and alternative delivery methods. We hire across civil and structural, mechanical and plumbing, and electrical inspection, so we are looking for real depth in one of them rather than all of them. Your focus is field verification. You’ll confirm that installed work matches the approved plans and specifications, document what happens on site every day, and catch problems while they are still cheap to fix.
This post is for future roles and not for a specific opportunity that is available right now. We accept applications and conduct interviews in advance of upcoming hiring needs. When a candidate is selected, their profile is activated in our talent pool for this specialty area. We notify our talent pool candidates first whenever we have a project need.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Note: We are seeking candidates of various skill levels, and the following responsibilities represent the core of these roles. Scope and complexity increase with experience level.
- Inspect installed work for conformance with approved plans, specifications, permits, codes, and contract quality requirements.
- Document daily construction activity, including labor, equipment, materials, quantities, weather, and progress photographs.
- Verify materials on delivery against approved submittals, certifications, and product data, and reject nonconforming material.
- Coordinate and witness field and laboratory testing, and track results, deficiencies, and corrective actions to closure.
- Identify and report nonconforming work, safety concerns, and design conflicts to the resident engineer promptly, and confirm correction.
- Measure and record pay quantities so payment covers only work actually installed and accepted.
- Verify survey layout checks and as-built documentation against approved plans.
- Monitor traffic control, work zone, and site safety requirements within the assigned work area, and report deviations.
- Coordinate inspection coverage with contractors, utility owners, agency staff, and third parties during active construction operations.
- Inspect work staged around live operations so verification happens without interrupting service.
- Support punch list development, testing and startup verification, and closeout documentation.
Attributes
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Collaborative mindset that fosters teamwork, trust, and positive relationships.
- Natural curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

- 5+ years of construction inspection experience for large (>$500M), complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects.
- Experience inspecting one or more of the following: civil and structural construction (earthwork, grading, drainage, utilities, foundations, concrete, and structures); mechanical and plumbing systems (HVAC, piping, pumps, and plumbing rough-in and finish); or electrical construction (conduit, cable, terminations, grounding, lighting, panels, and power distribution).
- Working knowledge of construction means and methods, applicable codes and standards, and materials testing and acceptance practices.
- Experience preparing daily inspection reports, quantity records, and nonconformance documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings.
- Experience with industry standard field reporting and document management software (e.g., Kahua, Unifier, e-Builder, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

- Experience serving as lead inspector on a construction package exceeding $100M in construction value.
- Experience inspecting work on a capital program exceeding $1B in total value where coverage spanned multiple active contracts.
- Experience inspecting multiple disciplines or systems on the same program, such as building, electrical, mechanical, or utility work.
- Experience inspecting construction on transit corridors, airport airside or terminal areas, or water and wastewater treatment facilities kept in service during the work.
- Experience with industry standard inspection management software (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, SharePoint-based systems, etc.).
