About this role
The Electrical Senior Engineer is responsible for the activities related to an assigned organizational element, program, project, or task. Will normally plan, conduct, and supervise engineering design reviews and analysis assignments involving a major project or several smaller or less complex designs. These designs, by their complexity and difficulty, require the fully competent application of conventional knowledge in a specific engineering discipline.
What You Will Do:
- Performs detailed engineering review of plans for compliance with applicable Rules, Standards, Regulations, and contract requirements.
- Assigns projects to other Engineers and monitors the progress of all assigned tasks. Ensures delivery of high-quality service and maintains good customer relations.
- Devises new approaches to problems encountered and recommends changes in methods, procedures, or design where necessary.
- Monitors the technical quality, content, consistency, continuity, and timeliness of action of all assigned projects.
- Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of electrical and automation engineering principles and practices in broad areas of technical responsibility. Mentors other Engineers' work and provides appropriate guidance and training as assigned and as needed.
- Advises assigned staff in matters related to applying Rules and Regulations.
- Prepares written responses to clients in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintains liaison with other engineering specialists internally and externally.
Implements and maintains the Company’s Quality System within assigned areas of responsibility.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Should have at least eight (8) years of experience in marine and offshore electrical engineering.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of marine and offshore electrical engineering.
- Priority technical knowledge in electrical power systems (Low/High Voltage generation & distribution), Dynamic Positioning (DP), and automation systems.
- Knowledge of electrical equipment certifications such as generators, electric motors, switchboards, transformers, VFDs, automation, and computer-based systems.
- Nice-to-have knowledge of cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of applicable Class Society Rules and International Regulations.
- The human relations skills necessary to maintain positive client contacts.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in Portuguese and English.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex or unique engineering problems.
- Ability to undertake short- and long-term planning to provide for efficient and effective scheduling of work assignments.
Reporting Relationships:
The incumbent generally reports to a Department Head or Manager but may report to others depending on the specifics of the assignment. There are no direct reports for this position.
