About this role

ABS Group Consulting is seeking an experienced wind industry professional to serve as Company Validation Auditor. The Wind Technician Certification Auditor will conduct independent evaluations of wind energy companies' technician competency validation programs to assess alignment with CCEPP certification standards and requirements.

This role provides an opportunity to contribute to workforce quality, technician competency, and industry-wide certification standards while leveraging deep expertise in wind operations, technician assessment, and safety practices.

Employment Type:

Contractor (temporary) or Independent Contractor (1099).

Expected Timeline:

One – two month expected timeline. Estimated based on the completion of the project.

Location:

The auditor may be remote but will have to travel.

What You Will Do:

- Participate in auditor onboarding and training related to CCEPP certification standards, audit methodology, documentation requirements, and safety protocols.
- Review company competency frameworks, technician assessment programs, evaluation records, and quality assurance processes.
- Evaluate whether company assessment systems demonstrate rigor, objectivity, consistency, and alignment with CCEPP certification competencies.
- Assess technician evaluation methods, pass/fail criteria, documentation practices, and safety requirements.
- Conduct field observations within operational wind environments to verify assessment processes and technician competency.
- Observe company assessors conducting technician evaluations and verify consistency with documented procedures.
- Independently assess a representative sample of technicians participating in company validation reviews.
- Document findings using the CCEPP audit framework and supporting evaluation tools.
- Identify program strengths, gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide objective recommendations and supporting evidence to inform certification decisions.

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience

- Five (5) or more years of experience in wind operations, technician training, workforce certification, competency assessment, or related areas.
- Demonstrated expertise in wind technician safety and operational practices.
- Experience with certification programs, competency-based training systems, or workforce assessment frameworks.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

- Strong understanding of wind technician competencies and field operations.
- Ability to objectively evaluate training and assessment programs.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and report-writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to assess technical information consistently.
- Ability to conduct field observations safely and professionally in active wind energy environments.
- Professional communication skills and ability to interact effectively with company representatives and industry stakeholders.

It Would Be Nice If You Had

- Experience serving as an instructor, trainer, assessor, evaluator, or auditor within the wind industry.
- Experience developing competency models, qualification standards, or assessment methodologies.
- Experience performing quality assurance reviews or compliance audits.
- Familiarity with nationally recognized certification standards and credentialing programs.

Deliverables:

Auditors are expected to provide a structured audit report that includes:

- Overview of the company's competency validation process.
- Analysis of company competencies against CCEPP certification requirements.
- Findings related to assessment rigor, field observations, and technician verification activities.
- Identification of gaps, risks, inconsistencies, or remediation needs.
- Recommendation regarding company validation eligibility and technician certification pathways.

Other Requirements:

- Ability to complete all required auditor training before conducting audits.
- Must disclose potential conflicts of interest and refrain from participating in audits where conflicts exist.
- Must execute confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements related to company information and technician records.
