About this role
The Senior Manager, Global Sustainability is responsible for coordinating and managing (as applicable) the sustainability team(s) of the relevant Sustainability Center(s) for the activities in their region.
What You Will Do:
- Facilitate information distribution on sustainability issues internally and externally by: developing and giving presentations, webinars, lectures, etc.,
- arranging environmental workshops and summits,
- working with global sustainability teams to develop environmental advisories, and
- working with Marketing & Communication department in preparation of promotional material.
- Interact directly with clients to develop and manage projects.
- Develop and maintain client relationships for promoting sustainability services.
- Support clients on new regulatory requirements and sustainability matters.
- Develop new or expanded sustainability services to clients.
- Participate in Industry groups working on sustainability issues.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in business management or in a technical engineering field. Non-degreed professionals may be considered depending on the level of experience and business requirements.
- MBA or engineering postgraduate degree is preferred.
- Typically requires ten or more (10+) years of experience in the assigned area of responsibility or market sector.
- International experience, either as an expatriate or working with international projects and teams, is required.
- Experience in business development or sales in a technical and diverse product environment is preferred.
- Experience in shipping finance and chartering operations would be an asset.
- Experience in ESG, sustainability reporting would be an asset.
- Experience with Venture Capitals and entrepreneurship would be an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A broad knowledge of decarbonization, GHG emissions and basic marine terminology, particularly as addressed by international conventions and codes pertaining to environmental and energy efficiency issues.
- A general knowledge of the process by which international maritime regulations are promulgated.
- A general knowledge of the process of the IACS organization, Charter and Procedures.
- Technical writing and communications skills.
- General knowledge and operation of personal computer word processing and data base systems.
- Abillity to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management System.
