About the Role

This role is responsible for the day-to-day delivery, monitoring, due diligence and reporting of ANZ Staff Super’s investment operations function. ANZ Staff Super is a superannuation fund for current and former ANZ employees, and this role supports the effective operation of the Fund’s investment arrangements in members’ best financial interests.

This includes implementing investment placements, managing liquidity and rebalancing activity, coordinating investment manager and custodian instructions, overseeing custodian performance, and monitoring valuation and operational controls.

The role works closely with the Head of Investments, the Head of ANZ Staff Super and key service providers to ensure investment activity is executed accurately, monitored appropriately and delivered in line with the Fund’s governance, risk and regulatory requirements.

What will your day look like?

As a Senior Investment Operations Manager, you will:

- Implement investment placements and investment-related instructions, including coordination of execution with investment managers, the custodian and other relevant service providers.

- Manage the Fund’s liquidity and rebalancing requirements in consultation with the Head of Investments, including monitoring cashflow needs, preparing instructions, coordinating implementation activity and escalating issues where required.

- Manage day-to-day investment operations activity with the Fund’s investment managers, including onboarding, transitions, investment instructions, reporting, operational queries and issue resolution.

- Coordinate and monitor custodian activity, including investment instructions, settlements, reconciliations, reporting, data quality, service delivery and issue management.

- Monitor investment valuation processes and controls, including the timeliness, completeness and reasonableness of valuation inputs, and escalating exceptions or issues.

- Undertake operational due diligence on investment managers and key investment service providers, including coordinating reviews, documenting findings and tracking agreed actions.

- Prepare investment operations reporting, analysis and papers for management, committees and the Board, including reporting on implementation activity, liquidity, operational risks, service provider performance and control outcomes.

- Manage and test investment operations controls in accordance with the Fund’s Risk Management Framework, including maintaining evidence of control performance and supporting remediation of control gaps or issues.

- Support compliance with investment-related regulatory and governance requirements through effective processes, monitoring, documentation, reporting and escalation.

- Coordinate investment operations activity with key stakeholders, including the Head of Investments, custodian, investment managers, auditors, tax advisers, lawyers, administrators and other service providers.

- Maintain and review investment operations policies, procedures and process documentation to ensure they remain current, practical and aligned with the Fund’s governance requirements.

- Identify and escalate operational risks, incidents, breaches, service provider issues and process improvements, and support timely resolution.

- Contribute to a strong risk, governance and member-focused culture across ANZ Staff Super, improving investment operations processes, controls and reporting.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

- Significant (7+ years) experience in investment operations, preferably in superannuation, institutional investment, asset management or custody.

- Practical experience implementing investment instructions and placements, including liquidity, rebalancing, settlements, reconciliations and custodian processes.

- Strong understanding of investment operations controls, valuation inputs, investment data, reporting and issue escalation.

- Experience coordinating investment managers, custodians and other service providers to deliver accurate and timely operational outcomes.

- Ability to prepare clear investment operations reporting, analysis and papers for management, committees and senior stakeholders.

- Experience managing or supervising a direct report, including setting priorities, reviewing work and supporting development.

- Strong stakeholder management, communication and judgement, with the ability to manage competing priorities and resolve operational issues.

- A self-starter with strong attention to detail and a practical focus on delivering outcomes for members.

- Experience in an Australian superannuation trustee environment, including member outcomes and members’ best financial interests.

- Familiarity with APRA, ASIC and SIS Act requirements relevant to investment governance and outsourcing.

- Experience with unlisted assets, private markets or alternative investments.

- Experience with investment manager onboarding, transitions or changes to investment structures.

- Experience using custody, portfolio accounting, investment reporting or investment data platforms.

List key qualifications that are relevant to this role.

- Tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, commerce, accounting investments or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

- Postgraduate or professional qualifications in finance, investments, accounting or superannuation are desirable .
