The Family Coaching & Visitation (FCV) program supports families involved with the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) who are working towards reunification with their children. The program provides supervised parent-child visitation along with hands-on coaching and support to help parents strengthen their parenting skills, build positive relationships with their children, and make progress toward the goals identified in their service plans. Through individual coaching during visits, case management, in-home after care services, and collaboration with DCYF and other members of the family's support team, FCV works to help families develop the skills, confidence, and supports needed for safe and successful reunification.
Position Summary: Provides coaching, support, supervision and education during parental visits with children who are placed out of the home. Responsible for communication with DCYF including weekly visitation summaries and court letters. Coordinate with families and providers to best support treatment work. Provide case management. Provide transportation for children to and from visits as needed.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with families and children in in human services, child development, education, child and family treatment.
- Prior experience working with children and families involved in child welfare strongly preferred.
- Experience providing supervised visitation a plus.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills highly preferred.
- Strong writing skills.
- Ability to use all MS Office programs, mainframe computer systems and Internet.
- Ability to work independently and as an interdependent team member.
- Clean driving record as the position requires reliable transportation, valid drivers license, and proof of automobile insurance, registration, inspection and driving record.
- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements: : This position requires agency and community visits, employees in this position must have the ability to:
- Travel to and from community locations and agency sites, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
