What will you do?

- Drive team performance and operational excellence by setting targets, managing key performance indicators (KPIs), and tracking client conversion and retention metrics
- Recruit, train, mentor, and coach certified personal trainers to build a successful, high-performing fitness business
- Oversee the client intake, assignment process, and lead generation initiatives to connect community members with the ideal personal trainer
- Design, implement, and evaluate innovative personal training programs and services aligned with emerging trends in the fitness and wellness industry
- Manage staff schedules, timesheets, program statistics, registration forms, and budget details to ensure smooth business operations
- Maintain strong communication channels and build collaborative relationships with staff, facility leaders, and community partners
- Ensure strict adherence to Occupational Health & Safety standards, emergency procedures, and corporate policies across all training spaces
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications

- Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year of practical work experience in program delivery
- Current nationally recognized Personal Training certification (such as CSEP-CPT/CEP, CSCS, CanFitPro PTS, FAB CPFT, or equivalent)

Assets:

- 5+ years of experience as a Personal Trainer
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Proven track record in creating and delivering training seminars or continuing education courses
- Multiple continuing education certifications in specialized fitness discipline

Skills required for success:

- Proven ability to build, grow, and sustain a business unit while attracting and retaining clientele
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills to empower and motivate staff
- Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills with the capacity to balance competing priorities
- Exceptional communication and decision-making abilities to foster positive working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment
- Proficiency in digital tools and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and recreation management software (e.g., Intelli/RAMS)

Conditions of Employment:

- Full-time availability, including readiness to work weekends and holidays as operational needs require
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement

Work Environment:

- Note : Due to the nature of this work, this position is not eligible for a hybrid work arrangement
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement, and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
- Light physical effort, including standing, walking, crouching, reaching, and lifting equipment up to 20 lbs
- Fast-paced environment with periods of high volume, complex scheduling, and interactions with patrons and community groups

Salary Range : $31.663 - $39.736 (Hourly); $55,782.290 - $70,004.900 (Annually)
