Job Summary:
In partnership with the Grief Services Supervisor & Bereavement Fellow, plans and carries out Grief Services support programs focusing on the entire family when loss has occurred. Provides support for children and adults affected by trauma and loss, and peripheral trainings for the organization and community partners specific to loss, coping, grief, critical stress management and resiliency. Assists with other work with the agency as requested. The Program Facilitator is responsible for working with the team to plan and operate our unique, diverse and community-based grief support program. Responsibilities include being current on different therapeutic techniques for our grieving population, developing new therapeutic opportunities, evaluating the therapeutic programming, and maintaining best practices.
Essential Functions:
- Creates and maintains materials to strengthen development of bereavement and palliative care program projects.
- Participates in committee work and other initiatives to support program development.
- Oversees grief services support group programming; coordinates group programming, develops curriculum, provides in-takes, facilitates groups.
- Develops grief curriculum and grief support group materials for grief services school programming, as well as facilitates school groups.
- Provides training for volunteer facilitators and continued volunteer staff development.
- Requires proficiency in professional skills related to grief responses, grief assessment, grief intervention, cultural diversity, assessment/intervention, group facilitation and the understanding of family dynamics.
- Responds to community requests for information, education, resources, presentations, etc.
- Responds to staff and providers after critical incidents to support their resiliency and mental health.
- Participates in professional activities that enhance knowledge and expertise of current trends and methods related to the program.
Education:
- Master's Degree in a Human Services field (counseling, social work, art therapy, etc) required
- Clinical licensure preferred
E xperience:
- 2+ years of professional experience working with children and adults required
- Experience working with families of diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of the grief process and experience working with children who have suffered loss.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations skills.
- Ability to take on the initiative tasks and work independently, as well as to work as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and ability /willingness to learn other computer programs as needed.
- Ability to travel within the state of Wisconsin and occasionally out of state for conferences.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
