Within CO+I, Core Datacenter Services (CDS) is focused on the reliable, efficient operation of Microsoft’s datacenter infrastructure and the services required to maintain and restore IT capacity.</p><p> </p><p>IT Process & Standards (ITPS), a team within CDS, is responsible for improving how production IT infrastructure is maintained and restored to service by standardizing and continuously improving the processes, workflows, and operational controls used by Datacenter Operations<strong>.</strong> ITPS works across the IT operations lifecycle, including Breakfix, service transition, planning and scheduling, service management, and operational standards, with a strategy centered on automating IT operations to improve availability and operational efficacy.</p><p> </p><p>We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead complex, cross-functional IT Capacity Recovery initiatives<strong>.</strong> This role will translate operational data, Kaizen outcomes, and Engineering Group requirements into measurable improvements in Breakfix performance and capacity recovery. The TPM will work across Datacenter Operations, Engineering Groups, and technical partners to connect performance signals to systemic problems, establish clear ownership and actions, and drive solutions from problem identification through implementation and sustained execution.</p><br><br><b>Responsibilities</b><br><ul><li>Drive implementation and sustained execution of Breakfix Kaizen outcomes and commitments.</li><li>Use operational measures including FPY, productivity, backlog and TTR to identify systemic barriers to capacity recovery and drive corrective actions.</li><li>Partner across Datacenter Operations, ITPS, engineering groups and engineering/tooling teams to translate operational problems into process, workflow and tooling improvements.</li><li>Lead cross-functional capacity-recovery initiatives from problem definition through implementation, adoption and measurable results.</li><li>Establish clear ownership, milestones, dependencies, risks and success measures across complex initiatives that span multiple organizations.</li><li>Support Commercial Cloud and other high-priority capacity escalations, connecting immediate operational issues to systemic process improvements.</li><li>Develop concise, data-driven operational insights and leadership reporting that make performance gaps, root causes and required actions clear.</li></ul><br><br><b>Qualifications</b><br><p><strong>Required Qualifications : </strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Operations Management, or relevant experience in technical program management, operations, engineering.<ul><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li><li>2+ years of experience leading complex, cross-functional technical or operational programs across multiple organizations and stakeholders.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications :</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with large-scale cloud infrastructure, datacenter operations, service operations, or other high-availability technical environments.</li><li>Experience with Breakfix, incident recovery, capacity recovery, fleet health, remediation, or operational service management.</li><li>Experience using operational metrics such as First Pass Yield, throughput, backlog, TTR, SLA attainment, or productivity to identify problems and drive measurable improvements.</li><li>Experience applying continuous improvement, Kaizen, Lean, root-cause analysis, or similar structured problem-solving approaches to operational problems.</li><li>Experience partnering across operations and engineering organizations to translate operational requirements into process, workflow, automation, or tooling improvements.</li><li>Experience with executive-level operational reporting and business reviews, including synthesizing complex data into clear insights, risks, decisions, and actions.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, identify systemic problems, establish structure and ownership, and drive work to measurable outcomes.</li><li>Experience translating operational performance data and business requirements into prioritized actions, improvement initiatives, and measurable outcomes.</li><li>Demonstrated experience identifying and addressing process, workflow, or operational performance gaps, including driving corrective actions through implementation.</li><li>Experience establishing and managing<strong> </strong>program objectives, success measures, milestones, dependencies, risks, and accountability.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate complex operational issues, risks, and decisions clearly to both technical teams and senior leadership.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to influence and drive alignment across decentralized organizations without direct authority.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Background Check Requirements: </strong></p><p>Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year. </p><p></p> <p>Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
