The Delivery Enablement (DE) team supports internal stakeholders by providing a robust operational backbone across TAS, Valuations, TES, OCFO, PI, IM, IB and TRS. The team includes Talent Acquisition, Human Resources (HR), Marketing, Data Analytics, Finance & Accounting and Delivery Excellence. As Portage Point continues to grow, the DE team is laser focused on scalability, quality and automation.
The General Counsel role at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity to assume a wide range of responsibilities and make a significant impact. This General Counsel is the firm's senior legal advisor and will build and lead the legal function as Portage Point scales across practice lines, offices and geographies. The General Counsel will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and oversee all legal, regulatory, risk and compliance matters, including client and vendor engagement terms, broker-dealer and investment banking regulation, employment matters, corporate governance and transactions. You will lead key initiatives, manage discrete workstreams and work closely with senior leaders. Responsibilities

- Serve as the principal legal advisor to the CEO, Board, Sponsor and executive leadership on legal and governance matters

- Own the firm's client contracting framework, including engagement letters, retention applications, MSAs, SOWs, NDAs and indemnification terms and set risk-based approval standards

- Oversee regulatory compliance across the platform, including the broker-dealer and FINRA obligations, independence and conflicts procedures, data privacy and cross-border requirements for international operations such as Triple P India

- Manage disputes, litigation, claims and professional liability matters, including engagement of outside counsel

- Advise on employment matters, restrictive covenants, partner and equity arrangements, and support corporate development activity including acquisitions, new office openings and entity structuring

- Lead internal trainings and best practice sharing

- Support talent acquisition and firm-building initiatives

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree from a top undergraduate program

- Juris Doctor (JD) from a top law school and active bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

- Located in or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, New York or Palm Beach

- Invested in a team-based culture, motivated to collaborate in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed

- Seven plus years of legal experience, including time at a leading law firm and experience in an in-house role at a professional services, consulting, financial advisory or investment banking firm

- Deep experience negotiating client engagement terms, limitation-of-liability and indemnification provisions and managing professional liability risk

- Ability to act as a trusted, commercially minded partner to practice leaders, enabling the firm to win and deliver work while managing risk appropriately

- Superior written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentation and reporting skills

- Proven ability to thrive in lean, fast-moving teams

- High attention to detail, responsiveness and ownership mindset

- Track record of success in high-pressure, client-facing environments

In accordance with pay transparency laws in the City of New York and the State of California, Portage Point provides a good-faith cash compensation range for this position. This range represents the cash compensation (base plus bonus) that the firm reasonably expects to pay upon hire, based on good-faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting. The final compensation within this range will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, education, training, experience and location. In addition to cash compensation, Portage Point may offer comprehensive benefits and equity participation, which are not reflected in the pay range above.
