Position Purpose Summary:
The IT Infrastructure & Systems Specialist role exists to ensure The Salvation Army Canada has secure, reliable, and high-performing technology systems that enable staff and programs to operate effectively. By managing core communications infrastructure, proactively monitoring systems, and supporting on-premises, hosted, and Azure environments, this role helps maintain business continuity, system availability, and network security. The position also ensures technology services are delivered in alignment with organizational goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements, supporting the organization's ability to serve communities across Canada efficiently and securely.
This is a temporary, fixed-term 12-month contract.
Key Accountabilities
- Administer enterprise information systems and integrated platforms to maintain high levels of availability, reliability, and security for business-critical services.
- Oversee technology asset lifecycle management by ensuring the right resources, tools, and processes are in place to support informed decision-making and operational effectiveness.
- Provide accurate and accessible technology asset data that enables business units to operate efficiently and make data-driven decisions.
- Manage vendor and partner relationships to ensure technology implementations align with best practices, compliance requirements, and organizational standards.
- Support long-term technology planning through capacity analysis and strategic collaboration with stakeholders to meet current and future business needs.
- Coordinate software license compliance activities, audits, and validations to mitigate risk and ensure adherence to contractual and regulatory obligations.
- Analyze technology asset lifecycle data to identify opportunities for cost optimization, risk reduction, and increased value across the organization.
- Drive continuous improvement by maintaining governance frameworks, disaster recovery readiness, performance measures, documentation, and training that enhance system scalability, resilience, and service delivery.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting enterprise service and hosting solutions, including private cloud, public cloud, and SaaS platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise in IT infrastructure, systems administration, application support, and technology operations across multiple technical disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, end-user devices, Microsoft Windows desktop and laptop environments, and Windows networking concepts.
- Proficiency in supporting Microsoft technologies and business applications, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes, assess risks, and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities, with experience managing multiple tasks, projects, and competing deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with technical teams, business stakeholders, and end users at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative, accountability, adaptability, and a commitment to service excellence.
- Commitment to mentoring team members, maintaining workplace safety standards, and supporting the mission and values of The Salvation Army in Canada.
This is a temporary, fixed-term 12-month contract.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $85,321.60 to $106,641.60 with a maximum of $127,982.40.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
