About this role

Job Summary

The PACS/RIS Administrator supports the daily operations, functionality, and continuous improvement of imaging applications within the Radiology Department. This is an onsite Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. position and works closely with Radiology staff, departmental leaders, IT, vendors, and other partners to ensure imaging systems and workflows operate efficiently and effectively.

The ideal candidate has experience working in a Radiology or Diagnostic Imaging environment, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships with a variety of teams and end users. Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills are essential, as this role serves as a key liaison between Radiology, IT, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Essential Functions of the Role

- Support the day-to-day operations, functionality, and integrity of imaging applications, devices, and workflows within Diagnostic Imaging.
- Work closely with Radiology and Imaging personnel to ensure accurate and complete DICOM data capture into PACS.
- Monitor and troubleshoot image workflow, network transmission, RIS validation, and exceptions across applicable imaging systems.
- Provide first-line application support and technical assistance to Radiology staff and other end users.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, application, and user-related issues, escalating more complex issues as appropriate.
- Partner with departmental leaders and IT to identify opportunities to improve workflows, system efficiency, and user experience.
- Serve as a liaison between Radiology users, IT teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution of issues.
- Provide system administration support and generate statistical and operational reports related to utilization, compliance, and other department metrics.
- Perform charge capture reconciliation as needed, including requesting new procedure codes and helping ensure accurate charges are applied to patient accounts.
- Develop and provide user training for imaging applications, workflows, and new system functionality.
- Support the implementation of new services, applications, processes, and system enhancements.
- Promote system efficiency, security, accuracy, and compliance with organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide after-hours, weekend, holiday, and on-call support on a rotational basis to multiple facilities, as needed.

Key Success Factors

- Radiology or Diagnostic Imaging experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Radiology Department workflows, processes, and imaging operations.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with Radiology staff, leadership, IT, vendors, and other partners.
- Strong troubleshooting, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and determine appropriate solutions.
- Customer-service focused with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to users with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and follow through with minimal routine oversight.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to provide timely, accurate, and cost-effective support while following organizational policies, procedures, and system standards.
- Ability to develop and provide quality training to new team members and support training related to new services, applications, and initiatives.
- Ability to participate in after-hours, weekend, holiday, and on-call support as required.
- Experience with EPIC Radiant, Visage PACS, Nuance PowerScribe, TeraRecon, PenRad, and other Radiology/Imaging applications is preferred.
