Working at the center of project execution, you will coordinate field operations, supervise multidisciplinary construction teams, and drive a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and operational excellence. The Superintendent - Crane & Rigging plays a critical role in this journey by leading and overseeing the safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of on-site crane and rigging activities.
Working directly at the project site, the Superintendent - Crane & Rigging is responsible for supervising and coordinating field operations, integrating field administration, subcontractor management, procurement coordination, and construction execution activities to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This role is essential in aligning day-to-day construction management with Worley’s strategic ambition to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for our customers.
You will be responsible for
- Leading, coordinating, and supervising all on-site crane, rigging, heavy haul, and lifting activities to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved schedules and budgets.
- Driving a proactive safety culture by ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements while promoting sustainable work practices.
- Overseeing and integrating field administration, procurement coordination, subcontractor management, and field engineering activities to support project objectives.
- Acting as a primary site contact for crane and rigging execution, fostering strong communication between project teams, customers, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Providing leadership and technical guidance to crane operators, rigging supervisors, forepersons, craft professionals, and subcontractors while promoting collaboration and accountability.
- Managing lift planning activities, critical lift reviews, crane utilization strategies, and rigging operations to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Monitoring construction progress, evaluating project performance, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks and maintain project commitments.
- Supporting the integration of sustainability-focused solutions into project delivery and identifying opportunities to enhance environmental and operational performance.
- Collaborating closely with engineering, procurement, logistics, construction, and project management teams to optimize workflows and improve project execution.
- Managing workforce planning, productivity, and resource allocation to ensure effective utilization of cranes, equipment, labor, and materials.
- Ensuring crane and rigging activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, lift plans, contractual requirements, regulatory standards, and company procedures.
- Supporting transportation, equipment setting, module installation, heavy lifts, and specialized rigging operations required for construction execution.
- Preparing and communicating construction progress reports, forecasts, equipment utilization metrics, and performance updates to project leadership and stakeholders.
- Identifying and resolving field-related challenges through practical and innovative solutions that support project objectives.
- Promoting a respectful, diverse, and inclusive work environment where team members are empowered to contribute to project success.
- Championing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project performance, workforce engagement, and operational excellence.

What you’ll bring to the role
You are a respected construction leader with demonstrated success directing crane and rigging operations on complex industrial, energy, chemicals, resources, infrastructure, or major capital projects. You combine strong technical expertise with a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable project delivery.
Key qualifications include:
- University degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or a trade qualification supported by extensive crane and rigging construction leadership experience.
- Proven experience supervising crane and rigging construction activities and leading field execution teams in industrial or large-scale construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of crane operations, rigging practices, lift planning, heavy haul transportation, equipment setting, field engineering practices, and construction management principles.
- Demonstrated ability to manage construction schedules, workforce planning, productivity improvement, equipment utilization, and resource allocation.
- Experience overseeing critical lifts, modular installations, heavy equipment placement, specialty rigging operations, and large-scale construction support activities.
- Strong understanding of crane capacities, lifting devices, rigging hardware, load calculations, and industry standards governing lifting operations.
- Experience building collaborative relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, equipment vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills with the ability to influence positive project outcomes.
- Strong understanding of safety leadership, quality management, environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and lifting operation requirements.
- Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to evaluate complex challenges and deliver practical, value-driven outcomes.
- Experience supporting sustainability initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and operational excellence efforts.
- Advanced knowledge of construction systems, tools, processes, industry standards, and crane and rigging best practices.
- Experience managing crane and rigging scopes within energy, chemicals, resources, infrastructure, LNG, refining, petrochemical, power, or industrial construction sectors is highly desirable.
