Seeking a Principal Piping Designer with piping design and field experience. As a Principal Designer, you will be responsible for having a full understanding of the project’s scope, overall schedule, deliverables, industry standards, applicable codes, and procedures. Due to changing priorities or different situations encountered, the incumbent relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Possesses analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills and abilities. Working under general supervision, the proficient individual works within defined timelines by the projects.

Reports To:
•    Piping Design Department Head / Manager

Primary Responsibilities:
•    Be knowledgeable of client procedures, project procedures, and specifications.
•    Experience executing projects within existing facilities with obstructions and design constraints.
•    Assist in the development of equipment and piping layout that satisfies all technical requirements on a project from the preliminary design stage through the detail design stage. 
•    Have a working knowledge of all safety, maintainability, and operability layout requirements.
•    Coordinate area design assignments with designers in all design areas.
•    Assist in coordinating and alignment between other engineering and design disciplines.
•    Participate in all design reviews for the project.
•    Preferred Software Experience in CADWorx and/or E3D, and Navisworks.
•    Field design experience with the capability to perform field walk downs using P&ID’s, locating tie points dimensionally, and routing pipe through existing facilities. Locate and identify pipe support types. Bring that back to the office for inputting the field data into a E3D or CADWorx model. 
•    Projects may utilize Laser Scanning. Experience using Scans within E3D and CADWorx is a plus.

Qualifications

Technical and Industry Experience:
•    Minimum of 10+ years of experience in piping and layout design for industrial facilities is required, refining and chemical facilities is a plus.
•    Experience with the application of AutoCAD
•    MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required
•    2 years 3D model design review software experience using CADWorx or E3D
