The Head of Digital Technology owns the strategy, architecture, and delivery of Texas Capital Bank's client-facing digital channels, and leads the technology teams supporting online banking, mobile banking, and the digital experience for private and personal consumer banking clients. This leader sets the multi-year digital roadmap and is equally accountable for shipping it: running digital as a managed channel with committed outcomes, modernizing the platforms beneath it, and staying close to the architecture, the code, and the production environment. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a purely strategic one.

We are seeking qualified candidates with a passion for innovation that have extraordinary levels of critical thinking, motivation, and initiative and aspire to deliver superior client experiences.

Responsibilities

- Define and own the digital technology strategy, multi-year roadmap, and supporting business cases for online banking, mobile banking, and private and personal consumer banking, in partnership with business, product, design, risk, and operations leadership.
- Own the delivery of the core digital channel experiences, including the mobile app, online banking and client dashboards, client communications (alerts, notifications, secure messaging), shared platform capabilities such as content management and personalization, the client-facing design system, and digital accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA).
- Run digital as a channel, setting committed outcomes and forecasts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, governing the roadmap against delivery capacity, and partnering with Product and Marketing so that limited digital real estate reflects the bank's priorities.
- Lead, grow, and retain the engineering teams accountable for digital channels, setting the hiring plan, levels, and performance standards, and building a culture of data-driven decision making and delivery.
- Remain hands-on by leading architecture and design reviews, participating in code and technical reviews, writing and challenging design documents, and engaging directly in production escalations.
- Own the end-to-end architecture of the digital estate, including web and mobile applications, APIs and integration to core banking and ancillary systems, and authentication, entitlements, and session security (MFA, passkeys and biometrics, device binding, step-up authentication) in line with FFIEC guidance.
- Champion a platform-first investment philosophy, funding shared infrastructure such as client experience data, personalization, content management, and reusable APIs in preference to point solutions, and lead platform modernization and technical debt reduction including migrations, login and performance optimization, and retirement of end-of-life systems.
- Own delivery execution and predictability with a disciplined project management orientation, covering release trains and app store cadence, feature flagging and progressive rollout, test and environment strategy, and CI/CD automation.
- Lead the technology for digital onboarding and account opening (identity verification, fraud decisioning, funding) and for digital money movement (ACH, wires, bill pay, Zelle, RTP, FedNow), including limits, controls, and client servicing of those flows, in partnership with Risk, Fraud, and BSA/AML.
- Partner with Private Bank leadership on the digital experience for high-net-worth clients and their advisors, including account aggregation, reporting, secure document exchange, and advisor-assisted servicing.
- Drive channel availability, stability, and security to the highest standards of reliability, speed, and client protection with Technology, Cyber, and Fraud, operating the supporting discipline of SLOs, observability, on-call, incident management, and disaster recovery.
- Establish and own channel performance metrics, including login success rate, biometric and passkey adoption, availability, session quality, adoption and activation, conversion, self-service containment, feature usage, and app store ratings, and close the loop with Voice of the Client feedback to remove friction, prioritize work, and demonstrate return on digital investment.
- Apply AI where it measurably improves the client experience or engineering throughput, including in-channel assistance and self-service, servicing automation, personalization, fraud and risk signals, and AI-assisted development, within the bank's model risk, privacy, and security standards.
- Drive build, buy, and partner decisions, leading vendor selection, negotiation, implementation, performance management, and third-party risk, and own the digital technology budget, forecast, and cost efficiency including cloud and vendor spend.
- Represent digital technology to executive leadership, the Board, Internal Audit, and regulators, keeping digital platforms examination-ready and compliant with regulatory, information security, and change management requirements.

Qualifications

- Minimum 12 years of technology and operational leadership experience, including 8 or more years leading teams that deliver client-facing digital products at scale, with experience managing managers.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or Technology, or a related field. Master's degree or MBA preferred.
- Demonstrated ownership of a consumer digital banking estate, online and mobile, at a bank, credit union, or fintech, including accountability for production availability.
- Hands-on technical depth and current credibility with engineers, able to review architecture and code, make design calls, and debug production issues personally.
- Experience leading a technology-enabled client experience function, including digital and omnichannel self-service, support, and communications strategies, and the applied use of automation, AI, and analytics within them.
- Experience implementing, migrating, or significantly extending a digital banking platform (for example Q2, Alkami, Backbase, Temenos, FIS, Fiserv, or equivalent).
- Experience delivering and operating mobile applications at scale, including release management, app store operations, and mobile observability.
- Strong API and integration experience, including integration to a banking core and surrounding systems of record.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern delivery engineering, including CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and observability.
- Track record of driving transformational change and platform modernization to measurable business outcomes on committed timelines, and of building and leading high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of client journey design, Voice of the Client programs, and the integration of AI, automation, and analytics into experience strategy.
- Strong ability to develop strategy, business cases, and supporting tactics, with budget ownership, sound build versus buy judgment, and experience owning vendor relationships and third-party risk for client-facing platforms.
- Working knowledge of the regulatory environment for consumer digital banking, including GLBA, Reg E, Reg DD, UDAAP, FFIEC guidance, and accessibility requirements, with experience supporting audits and examinations and partnering with Fraud, Information Security, Compliance, and Legal to ship client-facing change without compromising controls.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and executive communication skills, with the ability to influence across all organizational levels and to present technical trade-offs to non-technical executives and the Board.
- Resilient, adaptable leader able to navigate complexity, drive change at scale, align teams around a common mission, and develop engineering talent and future leaders.
