Residential Community Patrol Officer

Position Summary
Hammer Head Security is hiring Residential Community Patrol Officers to support security operations within private residential communities in Richmond and Pittsburg.
Officers in this role are responsible for routine patrols, community property inspections, security observations, incident documentation, and communication with Dispatch and designated property representatives. The position requires someone who can work independently, remain alert throughout the shift, interact professionally with residents and visitors, and consistently follow community-specific instructions.
Assignments may involve both vehicle and walking patrols , depending on the property.
Primary Duties
The officer assigned to a community may be responsible for:
- Performing scheduled patrols of residential streets, parking areas, common spaces, amenities, gates, and other designated areas.
- Maintaining an active and professional security presence throughout the property.
- Looking for unusual activity, unauthorized access, vandalism, property damage, theft concerns, and other conditions requiring attention.
- Reporting safety hazards and property issues, including damaged fencing, lighting problems, leaks, debris, gate malfunctions, and similar concerns.
- Photographing conditions, incidents, vehicles, hazards, or other items when required by site procedures.
- Completing Daily Activity Reports and Incident Reports accurately and promptly.
- Maintaining regular contact with Hammer Head Security Dispatch.
- Communicating with Property Management regarding security-related matters.
- Providing courteous assistance to residents and directing HOA or property-management questions to the appropriate management personnel.
- Operating assigned patrol vehicles and security equipment responsibly.
- Following all community post orders, patrol requirements, emergency procedures, and company policies.
- Maintaining the required uniform, identification, and equipment while working.
- Assisting law enforcement, fire, medical, or other emergency personnel when requested.
- Performing other duties associated with the assigned post.
Richmond Assignment – The Cove at Marina Bay
Officers assigned to The Cove at Marina Bay will provide overnight community patrol coverage .
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine vehicle and walking patrols throughout designated areas.
- Confirming that the pool is closed after the designated closing time.
- Confirming that the fitness center is closed after the designated closing time.
- Inspecting the clubhouse and designated common areas.
- Checking dumpster and trash areas and documenting improper disposal when observed.
- Inspecting designated sections of the Regatta community fence line.
- Verifying and documenting after-hours emergency vendors when applicable.
- Identifying and reporting lighting issues, hazards, property damage, and other concerns.
- Following all site-specific instructions provided by Hammer Head Security and Property Management.
Important: Parking enforcement and fire-lane enforcement are not currently part of this assignment at The Cove.
Pittsburg Assignment – River Run Community Association
Officers assigned to River Run will conduct recurring patrols and property inspections throughout the community.
Officers will be expected to:
- Complete at least six scheduled patrols during each assigned shift .
- Patrol designated portions of Burnham Drive, Case Drive, Houser Drive, and Jorgensen Court .
- Monitor designated residential parking areas.
- Document parking concerns with photographs and applicable vehicle information when required.
- Follow established procedures for parking-related observations.
- Inspect fire lanes, emergency access areas, and fire hydrant clearances.
- Identify and report abandoned, unauthorized, or inoperable vehicles.
- Check gates, common areas, sidewalks, landscaping, and other community property.
- Operate the patrol vehicle at no more than 10 MPH within the community .
- Maintain complete and accurate records of patrol activity and observations.
Responding to Incidents
The primary responsibility of the officer is to observe, document, communicate, and report .
Officers must:
- Follow Hammer Head Security emergency procedures and applicable site instructions.
- Contact 911 when there is a crime in progress, fire, medical emergency, immediate threat to life, or other situation requiring emergency assistance.
- Notify Dispatch and designated Property Management contacts when required.
- Prioritize personal safety when dealing with suspicious or potentially dangerous situations.
- Avoid unnecessary confrontation or placing themselves in danger.
- Follow Hammer Head Security's Observe and Report approach.
- Document relevant observations, notifications, photographs, and actions taken in the appropriate report.
Officers are not expected to physically intervene in situations that create an unnecessary safety risk.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Valid California BSIS Guard Card - required
- Valid California Driver's License - required
- Driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
- Strong observation and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with residents, visitors, vendors, management, and emergency personnel.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during unexpected situations.
- Ability to complete electronic reports accurately.
- Basic smartphone and mobile-app skills.
- Ability to use a camera and electronic reporting tools.
- Professional appearance and conduct.
Preferred: Previous experience in security, mobile patrol, residential security, HOA/community patrol, access control, or a related field.
Physical & Work Requirements
This position involves regular:
- Driving between designated patrol areas.
- Walking and standing during patrols.
- Inspection of outdoor and indoor community areas.
- Work in varying weather conditions.
- Interaction with residents, visitors, vendors, contractors, Property Management, and emergency personnel.
- Use of a smartphone, camera, and electronic reporting systems.
- Independent work while maintaining communication with Dispatch.
Applicants should be comfortable remaining alert and performing routine patrol activities for the duration of their assigned shift.
Scheduling
- Full-Time Opportunities Available
- Assignments may include day, evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday coverage depending on client requirements.
- Specific schedules are based on the assigned community and operational needs.
- Additional hours or assignments may become available based on staffing and client requirements.
- Officers must be able to reliably report to their assigned community and work the required schedule.
