Job Purpose
Working within the Garradin Development team alongside experienced Developers, Business Analysts and Technical Consultants, you will learn and develop software solutions for a complex financial services product. The role provides an opportunity to build strong software engineering skills, with training provided in Progress OpenEdge
What You’ll Do

Software Development
- Develop software using Progress OpenEdge / ABL, with training and mentoring provided.
- Apply programming fundamentals and good coding practices.
- Contribute to enhancements and fixes across the Garradin product.
- Actively adopts and champions AI-driven development practices, including advanced coding assistants, agentic workflows, and automation opportunities across the software lifecycle.
Problem Solving & Testing
- Investigate software defects and application issues and use debugging techniques to identify root causes.
- Develop and execute unit and functional tests for software changes.
- Analyse data and technical problems and propose practical solutions.
Team & Engineering Practices
- Work closely with experienced Developers, Business Analysts and Test Analysts.
- Participate in code reviews, team discussions and knowledge sharing.
- Learn and use the development tools, source control and engineering practices used by the Garradin team.
Learning & Growth
- Take ownership of learning new technologies, tools and the Garradin product domain.
- Seek feedback and continuously improve software development skills.
- Contribute ideas and improvements as confidence and experience grow.

Qualification & Experience
Previous Progress OpenEdge experience is not required; structured training and mentoring will be provided.
Essential
- Completed or near-completed B.E./B.Tech/MCA or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Strong foundation in programming, data structures, algorithms and object-oriented programming.
- Demonstrated coding ability through academic projects, personal projects, internships or other software development work.
- Ability to explain the technical decisions, challenges and solutions behind projects they have worked on.
Preferred
- A GitHub portfolio or similar code portfolio demonstrating coding ability, project work and good software engineering practices.
- Experience with a modern general-purpose programming language such as Java, C#, C++, Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Exposure to Git/source control, REST APIs, web development or other software engineering tools.
- Participation in coding competitions, open-source projects, technical clubs or other activities demonstrating a strong interest in software development.
