THE POSITION

The Senior Trade Marketing Manager is responsible for defining and executing the trade marketing strategy across key customer channels (pharmacies, vet clinics, pet stores, chains, mass market, and others), ensuring superior customer activation, category growth, and commercial excellence. The role acts as the critical link between Marketing, Sales, Commercial Excellence, Supply, and external partners, translating brand strategies into impactful customer-facing activation plans that drive demand, visibility, conversion, and sustainable growth within every channel.

This is a senior leadership role for a strategic and commercially minded professional who can shape the future of Trade Marketing within the Pet Business Unit, unlocking growth opportunities for “our over the counter” and prescription-driven portfolio of pharmaceutical products. Beyond delivering business results, the successful candidate will build capabilities, establish best practices, and progressively develop and lead a high-performing Trade Marketing team.

Tasks & Responsibilities

- Develop and execute Trade Marketing strategies aligned with business objectives, customer needs, and brand priorities.

- Translate brand plans into customer-specific activation programs and commercial initiatives to drive growth across channels, categories, and shopper segments.

- Partner closely with Sales and Key Account teams, supporting customer growth plans, business planning processes, and commercial negotiations through market insights and promotional recommendations.

- Leverage market, customer, category, and shopper insights to identify business opportunities, monitor competitive trends, and deliver actionable recommendations.

- Lead the planning and execution of customer activation programs across retail and omnichannel environments, ensuring alignment with brand campaigns, media investments, and commercial objectives.

- Manage promotional calendars, activation toolkits, and execution standards to deliver consistent and engaging customer experience.

- Define, monitor, and analyze Trade Marketing KPIs, evaluate promotional effectiveness and ROI, and provide performance insights and optimization recommendations to stakeholders.

- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, Supply Chain, Finance, Digital Marketing, and external partners to ensure successful execution of strategic initiatives.

- Lead projects that enhance commercial effectiveness, customer engagement, and organizational growth.

- Establish and develop the Trade Marketing function, build future capabilities, support team growth, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

- Minimum 8 years of experience in Trade Marketing, Customer Marketing, Category Management, Commercial Marketing, or a similar commercial function.

- Proven track record within FMCG, Consumer Health, Animal Health, Retail, E-commerce, or other customer-centric industries.

- Strong commercial acumen and deep understanding of customer economics, category dynamics, and business drivers.

- Strong analytical and financial capabilities, including data-driven decision making, promotional effectiveness measurement, and ROI evaluation.

- Experience managing complex cross-functional stakeholder environments and influencing senior stakeholders across functions.

- Strong project management and change management skills, with the ability to lead strategic initiatives and drive organizational improvement.

- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including team development, talent coaching, and capability building.

- Experience in retail, pharmacies, and omnichannel environments is considered a strong advantage.

- Agile, innovative, and solutions-oriented mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement.

- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

- Fluent Italian and English, both written and spoken.

- For this position we offer a permanent contract.

- The gross annual base salary foreseen for this position ranges from €55.000 to €73.000, depending on candidate's skills and experience.
