Direct Support Professional – Day Habilitation

Arc of Onondaga is seeking compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our East Syracuse and Fremont area programs and community settings .
Whether you have experience as a caregiver, Home Health Aide (HHA), direct care provider, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Personal Care Assistant (PCA) - or you're looking to begin a rewarding career in human services - this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day while building valuable skills and a fulfilling career.
As a DSP, you'll provide hands-on support, encouragement, instruction, and guidance while helping the people we support achieve greater independence, pursue their goals, and live fulfilling lives.
What You'll Do
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in social, recreational, and community activities.
- Provide hands-on care, support, instruction, and guidance in program and community settings.
- Support individuals in making choices and directing the course of their own lives.
- Promote self-advocacy, confidence, independence, and meaningful community participation.
- Support the emotional, physical, and personal well-being of the people we serve.
- Assist with daily routines, tasks, and activities.
- Help individuals develop essential life skills such as money management, shopping, household tasks, and other skills that promote independence.
- Provide personal care and hygiene assistance as needed.
- Build positive, respectful relationships and encourage individuals to participate fully in their communities.
What You'll Need
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid New York State driver's license.
- Compassionate, dependable, and person-centered approach.
- Genuine interest in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Experience in caregiving, direct support, or human services is helpful, but a willingness to learn and make a difference is what matters most.
