About this role

The project:

Leads PMO and Project Controls across assigned hubs, building high-performing teams, driving service excellence and strengthening industry engagement. Promotes Mace’s expertise while ensuring services exceed client expectations, remain competitive and continue to support sustainable growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Champion safety, wellbeing, inclusivity and responsible delivery across every project.
- Deliver projects through clear planning, quality systems and strong stakeholder collaboration.
- Supervise change and commercial performance with integrity.
- Lead teams to achieve KPIs, share best practice and unlock potential across Mace.
- Lead PMO and Project Controls performance across assigned hubs.
- Ensure services align with best practice, ISO standards and Control Centre requirements.
- Provide expert guidance, mentoring and cross-hub support.
- Build trusted client partnerships while driving digital delivery, service excellence and net zero outcomes.

You’ll need to have:

- Significant experience of effective PMO and Project Controls leadership on significant/landmark/mega construction projects.
- Significant experience of leading the effective deployment of robust PMO and Project
- Controls strategies/frameworks and integrated project controls methodologies.
- Expert knowledge of risk tools, techniques and software (e.g., MS office and Power BI, Aconex, Primavera P6 and RiskHive, @risk, Primavera Risk Analyser).
- Ability to manage activities with significant uncertainty or ambiguity providing effective consultancy to clients and other key stakeholders to drive effective outcome/s.
- Practical application and understanding of the opportunities related to data analytics and intelligent reporting, Power BI and other reporting suite tools.
- Strong business development skills and commercial awareness/acumen (e.g. cross selling Mace services into client organisations).
- Strong understanding of construction and related industry, trends, innovation and associated threats and opportunities.
- Deep domain knowledge of providing PMO and Project Controls leadership in collaboration with external bodies, professional institutions and peers.
- Experience of working client side as well as consultancy.
- Excellent communicator (verbal and written), relationship manager.
- Confident presenter and public speaker; ability to capture the audience and clearly transmit the position/message.
- Effective appraisal/analytical skills to support skilled negotiations, problem solving, or conflict resolution.
- Develops and maintains excellent professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- Experience of delivering a range of project services on major construction programmes or management consultancy.
- Relevant university degree (e.g. construction, engineering) or equivalent. 
Chartered (or equivalent) membership of relevant professional institution(s) e.g. Association of Project Managers
- Management Successful Programmes / P3O / P3M3 accreditation
- Engages with peers within professional bodies and other forum to maintain professional knowledge and work across industry to advance the profession.
- Actively supports professional White Paper development and review.
- Actively promotes business within professional networks both within the UK and globally. (or local equivalent).
