About this role
The University of Virginia Library is seeking a Serial Cataloging Coordinator in the Resource Acquisition & Description department. This position coordinates the receiving, processing, and cataloging of serials, periodicals, and standing orders from around the world. They will conduct quality control reviews of the materials and work with vendors to correct errors with shipments, invoices, and records. They will communicate concerns or changes to staff and vendors both internally and externally and will serve as a contact for questions about serial control issues. They will contribute to the ILS maintenance of electronic MARC serial holding records and provide associated training when needed. This work is done within the broader context of the Resource Acquisition & Description department, whose mission is to acquire and describe collection materials from around the world in support of the research and teaching at the University of Virginia.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
- Experience: At least two years of library experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of academic library experience
- Experience processing serials and/or periodicals and/or standing orders (continuations)
- Experience creating and/or maintaining MARC records in SirsiDynix Symphony, or similar Integrated Library Systems
- Experience claiming library print materials
- Experience coordinating library workflows
- Knowledge of library technical services operations
Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
The anticipated hiring range is $54,000 - $56,000, commensurate with experience.
