Job Title: Senior Project Manager / Estimator Job Description
This Senior Project Manager / Estimator role leads preconstruction and construction projects from concept through completion, with full responsibility for scope, budget, schedule, and quality. You will manage contracts and proposals, oversee bidding and procurement, coordinate closely with architects, engineers, clients, and contractors, and ensure projects meet financial and performance targets. This position is ideal for a commercial construction professional who enjoys both project oversight and hands-on involvement, and who wants the opportunity to help grow a construction division and make a lasting impact on the business.
Responsibilities
- Develop, negotiate, and manage contracts, proposals, AIA agreements, fees, and change orders, ensuring all documentation is accurate and aligned with project objectives.
- Prepare and manage detailed project schedules, budgets, and cost analyses, including bid packages, bid tabs, and Division 01 specifications.
- Lead and oversee the bidding and procurement process, including issuing and responding to RFIs, obtaining vendor pricing, evaluating bids, and coordinating contractor and subcontractor selection.
- Manage construction execution with daily oversight of field operations, ensuring quality control, safety compliance, and effective risk management, and exercising authority to correct or stop deficient work when necessary.
- Monitor financial performance of projects by tracking costs, managing invoicing, reviewing and approving invoices, and ensuring projects meet budget, cash flow, and profit targets.
- Coordinate preconstruction activities, including estimating, budgeting, and value analysis, to support accurate project pricing and successful project delivery.
- Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and design partners, and participate in client presentations and business development activities.
- Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities clearly to internal teams and leadership, ensuring alignment with company policies, procedures, and strategic goals.
- Lead and mentor project teams, including engineers, assistant project managers, and construction managers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to develop staff capabilities.
- Ensure proper resource planning and utilization across multiple projects, balancing workload and priorities to meet schedule and quality objectives.
- Identify and implement process improvements, new technologies, and industry best practices to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.
- Use construction documentation and cloud-based construction management software to manage project information, track progress, and support decision-making.
- Oversee change order management, cost control, and field operations to maintain project alignment with contract requirements and client expectations.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers on design-build and design-driven projects, contributing to thoughtful problem-solving and integrated project delivery.
- Support the growth of the construction division by contributing to strategic planning, division development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field or construction-related discipline preferred.
- A minimum of five years of practical experience as a Project Manager in commercial construction.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial construction project management, including preconstruction, estimating, and budgeting.
- Proficiency with construction documentation and cloud-based construction management software.
- Proficiency with project management and construction accounting software.
- Strong understanding of contracts, bidding, procurement, and change management processes.
- Experience with direct reports as a project manager, including leading engineers, assistant project managers, or construction managers.
- Experience in commercial construction and estimation.
- Experience with procurement, bid management, cost control, change order management, and field operations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present to clients and collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Strong client relationship management skills, with a focus on service, responsiveness, and long-term partnership.
- Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff.
- Experience with construction operations in a commercial environment.

Work Environment
This role is primarily based in an office in the York, PA area, with hybrid work flexibility when project workload allows, offering a balance between in-office collaboration and remote work. The position includes occasional travel to project sites, typically within 1 to 1.5 hours of the office, with some statewide or out-of-state travel depending on project needs. You will work in a collaborative, design-driven environment that emphasizes teamwork, integrated project delivery, and thoughtful problem-solving. The organization provides exposure to end-to-end project delivery, from preconstruction through construction, across industries such as manufacturing, food and beverage, healthcare, and education. The work environment combines office-based project management using project management, construction accounting, and cloud-based construction management software with field involvement alongside clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and construction teams.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of York, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
