The Associate Geoscientist 1 supports routine field investigations and technical reporting, including monitoring-well installation, soil and groundwater sampling, subsurface documentation, initial data review, and preparation of draft technical deliverables. The role follows established methods, regulations, and project requirements under senior-staff guidance; completes assigned tasks within scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements; and coordinates with project leadership, subcontractors, laboratories, and internal and external stakeholders as directed. Guidance and mentorship support development of technical judgment, industry knowledge, and increasing responsibility.

Expected Outcomes:

- Perform assigned routine field activities, including field documentation, lithologic logging, soil and groundwater sampling, groundwater monitoring, and monitoring-well installation support; use established sampling locations, equipment, and techniques under senior-staff guidance.
- Collect and organize project data, perform initial quality checks, support laboratory coordination in accordance with project requirements and data quality objectives, and elevate identified issues to project leadership.
- Prepare assigned portions of draft technical reports, tables, figures, illustrations, geologic maps, and cross sections; incorporate reviewer feedback under senior technical guidance.
- Support preparation of technical deliverables by applying relevant standards, regulations, literature-review findings, industry practices, and project requirements under senior technical guidance.
- Conduct assigned work in accordance with approved project specifications, standard operating procedures, scope requirements, and quality standards, and maintain accurate, organized project records.
- Complete assigned tasks within scope, schedule, and budget requirements; communicate progress, risks, issues, and deviations to project leadership.
- Observe subcontractor activities within assigned tasks and report performance, quality, safety, schedule, or compliance concerns to project leadership.
- Perform assigned low-risk EHS activities with appropriate training and direction, participate in field implementation of project safety requirements, exercise Stop Work Authority, and elevate identified hazards to project and EHS leadership.
- Build and apply foundational knowledge within assigned areas of practice and use feedback and lessons learned to improve technical work.
- Seek guidance and mentorship from senior staff to develop technical judgment and complete unfamiliar assignments.
- Support client and internal stakeholder interactions on assigned tasks, develop awareness of project needs and objectives, communicate status through project leadership, and respond to routine inquiries within assigned responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or a related field and 0–2 years of professional experience.
- Foundational knowledge of geoscience field investigations, including soil borings, monitoring-well installation, lithologic logging, soil and groundwater sampling, and field documentation.
- Ability to perform assigned routine field activities safely and effectively as a team member under senior-staff guidance.
- Ability to participate in field implementation of project safety requirements, perform assigned low-risk EHS activities with appropriate training and direction, exercise Stop Work Authority, and elevate identified hazards.
- Ability to prepare assigned portions of draft technical deliverables, summarize findings, incorporate reviewer feedback, and maintain accurate and organized project records.
- Ability to collect and organize environmental data, perform initial quality checks, support laboratory coordination, and elevate identified data-quality issues.
- Foundational knowledge of applicable regulations, industry practices, technical standards, project requirements, standard operating procedures, quality and EHS requirements, with the ability to apply them to assigned routine work under guidance.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks within scope, schedule, and budget requirements; manage assigned priorities; and communicate progress, risks, issues, and deviations to project leadership.
- Ability to observe subcontractor activities and report performance, quality, safety, schedule, or compliance concerns to the project leadership.
- Ability to develop technical judgment, seek guidance for unfamiliar assignments, and apply feedback and lessons learned to improve assigned work.
- Ability to support client and internal stakeholder interactions, develop awareness of project needs and objectives, and respond to routine inquiries within assigned responsibilities.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, accountability, teamwork, continuous learning, and application of feedback.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate professionally with project teams, subcontractors, laboratories, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience using electronic data-collection, GPS, and GIS applications is preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors at active construction, remediation, or similar project sites; walk long distances over varied terrain; climb ladders; work at elevations; and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to travel.
