Amount of Travel Required: Varies

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Controls Engineering Manager leads and manages the Controls Engineering function supporting the design, development, integration, commissioning, and lifecycle support of power generation equipment and associated control systems. This role provides technical and organizational leadership across new product development and sustaining engineering; oversees controls engineering resources and execution across multiple product lines; establishes controls engineering standards and processes; and develops the Controls Engineering team to deliver safe, reliable, standardized, manufacturable, and serviceable controls solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may")

- Lead, develop, mentor, and manage the Controls Engineering team, establishing clear expectations for performance, accountability, communication, and technical execution.

- Manage engineering resources, priorities, workload, schedules, and deliverables across multiple power generation product lines.

- Provide technical leadership for gas turbine and generator control systems, with emphasis on GE Mark VIe, Woodward, and Allen Bradley PLC platforms.

- Oversee the development and integration of control system architectures, PLC and turbine control software, HMI/SCADA, instrumentation, I/O, industrial networks, sequencing, synchronization, and load control.

- Establish and maintain controls engineering standards, documentation strategies, software revision control, testing practices, and standardized engineering processes.

- Ensure controls drawings, schematics, I/O lists, control narratives, bills of materials, software, and other technical deliverables are accurate, complete, reviewed, and properly controlled.

- Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Project Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Service Engineering, Field Operations, customers, and vendors to support successful project execution.

- Support system integration, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis activities.

- Develop engineering schedules, resource plans, priorities, and execution strategies while proactively communicating technical and schedule risks.

- Drive standardization, lessons learned, reliability improvements, and continuous improvement across the controls product portfolio.

- Develop team technical capabilities through training, mentoring, knowledge transfer, and effective delegation.

- Promote a culture of ownership, urgency, accountability, technical excellence, collaboration, and disciplined execution.

- Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

- Successfully pass all applicable general pre employment testing including, but not limited to, background check, pre employment drug screening, pre employment fit tests, and pre employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).

- Daily in person, predictable attendance in The Woodlands, TX; overtime based on business needs.

- Valid U.S. Drivers License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.

- Proficiency in spoken English language.

- Ability to travel based on business needs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.

- 10+ years of progressive controls engineering experience within power generation, gas turbines, energy, oil & gas, or heavy industrial applications.

- 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams, including resource planning, prioritization, performance management, mentoring, and technical direction.

- Strong experience with gas turbine control systems, with demonstrated knowledge of GE Mark VIe and/or Woodward control platforms; experience with Allen Bradley PLC systems preferred.

- Strong understanding of turbine generator controls, including startup/shutdown sequencing, speed and load control, synchronization, load sharing, protection interfaces, instrumentation, and auxiliary/BOP controls.

- Experience developing and reviewing control system architectures, PLC/turbine software, HMI/SCADA applications, I/O lists, control narratives, schematics, industrial networks, BOMs, and controlled engineering documentation.

- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary technical execution through design, software development, system integration, FAT, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field support, with strong communication, organization, and decision making skills.

- Knowledge of GE and other gas turbine related controls programs.

- Successfully complete New Hire Safety Orientation and annual recertification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees are frequently required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach, and squat or kneel. The employee works primarily indoors and will be sitting for prolonged periods at a desk while typing on a computer, whether in a home office, corporate office, client office, or job site. The employee must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. When required to visit a wellsite, the work environment may include exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio levels up to 85 dB, inclement weather, and extreme temperatures (both hot and cold). Given these conditions, employees visiting a pad site are required to wear company mandated and company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including fire retardant coveralls, safety hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection, and impact gloves, and must strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Employees must be able to independently lift 25 lbs.

Work hours may include or includes early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on business necessity.
