About the role
We’re seeking a proactive and highly organised Assistant Stewarding Manager to support the effective operation of our Stewarding team. Working closely with the Stewarding Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and operational efficiency across all kitchen and back-of-house areas. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to motivate a team in a fast-paced hospitality environment while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards.
What you will do
- Support the Stewarding Manager in the day-to-day supervision and management of the stewarding team
- Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery, cutlery, and glassware are cleaned, sanitised, and available for service
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout all kitchen and back-of-house areas
- Assist with rota planning, team scheduling, and daily task allocation to ensure operational effectiveness
- Train, coach, and support stewarding team members to achieve departmental standards
- Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and stewarding equipment, assisting with ordering and inventory control
- Ensure all waste disposal and recycling procedures are followed correctly and efficiently
- Carry out regular health, safety, and hygiene checks, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements
- Support kitchen and food & beverage teams to ensure seamless service delivery across the hotel
What You'll Bring
- Previous experience within a stewarding, kitchen porter, or back-of-house supervisory role
- Experience leading or supervising a team within a hospitality environment is preferred
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and sanitation standards
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- A hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining exceptional standards
- A proactive attitude and commitment to delivering operational excellence
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
