Staff Accountant

St. Louis, MO Job Description This Staff Accountant role supports day-to-day accounting operations during a period of increased workload. You will work closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain general ledger integrity, and assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with experience in a manufacturing environment who can quickly adapt to established processes, systems, and ERP tools. Responsibilities

- Prepare and post accurate and timely journal entries in accordance with established accounting procedures.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper classification.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including preparation of supporting schedules and entries.
- Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile key balance sheet accounts to identify and resolve variances.
- Support accounts payable activities, including reviewing invoices, coding expenses, and assisting with payment processing as needed.
- Support accounts receivable activities, including reviewing customer accounts, assisting with billing, and helping to resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting, including tracking additions and disposals and maintaining depreciation schedules.
- Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for management review, ensuring data integrity and clarity.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies by researching transactions and collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
- Support internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and responding to inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and documentation to support financial reporting and audits.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives within the accounting function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.

Essential Skills

- 35 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles and general ledger processes.
- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and performing month-end close activities.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including working with formulas, spreadsheets, and data analysis.
- Experience utilizing various ERP tools to support accounting and financial reporting.
- Ability to analyze and reconcile general ledger, bank, and balance sheet accounts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- 5+ years of accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience working with Infor ERP systems is preferred.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is highly beneficial.

Work Environment This role operates on standard business hours, Monday through Friday, providing a predictable daytime schedule. The position is 100% in-office, offering close collaboration with the Finance team and other departments in a professional office setting. You will work with various ERP systems, including Infor where applicable, and use Microsoft Excel regularly as part of daily accounting tasks. The environment supports structured accounting processes, clear workflows, and consistent interaction with colleagues across the organization.

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
