Job Title: Quality Control Manager Job Description
The Quality Control Manager oversees the construction process to ensure that the end product meets the desired level of quality. In this role, you will perform quality checks throughout the construction process and inspect the end product before it is handed over to the client. You will be responsible for creating and implementing quality control procedures to ensure compliance with relevant building codes and standards. Collaboration with project managers and engineers to identify and resolve quality issues is a key aspect of this position, as well as monitoring the performance of subcontractors to ensure their work meets standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quality control standards and procedures specific to construction projects, ensuring compliance with national and local building codes.
- Inspect and monitor construction activities on-site to identify deviations from quality standards and document any defects or non-compliance issues.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure quality control measures are understood and implemented at every stage of construction.
- Review construction materials to ensure they meet project specifications and quality standards before they are used on-site.
- Manage the testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials for strength, composition, and adherence to project specifications.
- Facilitate Quality Control meetings to discuss quality control practices and expectations with subcontractors and project team members.
- Investigate customer complaints related to construction quality, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that construction projects adhere to quality standards, regulations, and client specifications.
- Work with project managers and site supervisors to address quality issues and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Manage and track inspection reports, logs, and other quality documentation.
- Train and educate construction personnel on quality control procedures and best practices.
- Stay up to date on industry standards and regulations for quality control in the construction industry.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and engineers to resolve quality-related issues.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 10 years as a Project Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Construction Manager.
- 2 years of experience as a Quality Control Manager.
- EM385-1-1 certification.
- Experience in hazard identification, safety compliance, and sustainability.
- Management of large construction projects.
- Ability to manage a multimillion-dollar project portfolio and a team made up of Project Managers, Design Engineers, Estimators, Contract Administrators, Administrative staff, Field Installers, Vendors, and Subcontractors.
- Thorough knowledge of all construction-related trades.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Army Corp Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) certification required.
- Quality control experience in federal construction.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Site safety management.
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite role. The position is part of a growing small to mid-sized contractor with a close-knit culture. The company manages projects across industrial, municipal, commercial, and defense-related markets, providing stability and the accessibility of a smaller team.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $125000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
