Job Title: Connectivity Project Analyst Job Description: The Connectivity Project Analyst supports strategic utility connectivity initiatives with a focus on long-haul fiber infrastructure and grid modernization programs. This role delivers project controls, cost management, scheduling, reporting, GIS support, and dashboard development to drive the successful execution of large-scale fiber and communications infrastructure projects. The analyst works closely with project managers, engineering teams, finance stakeholders, and utility leadership to provide clear visibility into project performance, budgets, schedules, and key program metrics. Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling tools.
- Collaborate with project managers to build schedules, track milestones, perform critical path analysis, and produce progress reports.
- Monitor project performance to identify schedule risks, delays, and recovery opportunities across multiple initiatives.
- Support portfolio-level reporting for multiple fiber and connectivity programs to ensure consistent oversight and coordination.
- Track project expenditures, forecasts, and overall budget performance to support effective cost management.
- Assist with project estimating, cost analysis, and financial reporting activities for utility and infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain cost tracking tools and reporting dashboards to improve financial visibility.
- Support monthly cost reviews, variance analysis, and project forecasting to manage cost and schedule performance.
- Collaborate with project teams to monitor budget adherence and overall financial performance of capital programs.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards and performance reporting tools for stakeholders at all levels.
- Create executive-level reports and visualizations that support data-driven decision-making.
- Collect, validate, and analyze project data from multiple systems and databases to ensure data quality and consistency.
- Provide reporting on project health, resource utilization, schedule performance, and financial metrics.
- Develop, maintain, and administer SharePoint project sites to support collaboration and information sharing.
- Improve project workflows, document management, and information accessibility through SharePoint and related tools.
- Support data governance, version control, and project documentation standards to maintain accurate project records.
- Maintain centralized repositories for schedules, reports, cost information, and project deliverables.
- Support GIS and mapping activities by maintaining accurate spatial data related to fiber and connectivity projects.
- Assist with mapping and visualization efforts associated with fiber infrastructure and grid modernization programs.
- Coordinate with engineering and field teams to ensure accurate project data and spatial information in GIS systems.
- Assist with route planning, project tracking, and asset documentation activities for long-haul fiber and related assets.
- Apply project management, construction management, and project coordination skills to support the full lifecycle of utility and telecommunications projects.
- Utilize Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel capabilities, to perform data entry, analysis, reporting, and documentation.
- Support change order tracking, document control, and administrative functions related to project controls and reporting.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project controls, reporting processes, and analytics solutions to enhance stakeholder satisfaction and decision-making.
Essential Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, GIS, Telecommunications, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience supporting utility, infrastructure, telecommunications, engineering, or capital project programs.
- Demonstrated experience with project scheduling, cost control, and project reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, reporting, and data analysis.
- Experience developing dashboards and analytics solutions for project or program reporting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience with project management and project coordination in construction, utility, or telecommunications environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in project controls, including scheduling, cost analysis, reporting, and administration.
- Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain high standards of data quality and reporting accuracy.
- Experience with GIS or mapping systems to support project tracking and spatial analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.
- Primavera P6 Certification or equivalent advanced scheduling experience.
- AACE, Project Controls, Cost Engineering, or Scheduling Certifications.
- Experience supporting electric utility or telecommunications infrastructure projects.
- Experience supporting long-haul fiber, middle-mile, broadband, or communications programs.
- GIS experience utilizing Esri, ArcGIS, or comparable mapping platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Access databases and reporting solutions.
- Experience developing Power BI dashboards and executive-level reporting.
- Experience with Oracle Projects or comparable project management platforms.
- Background in construction management, engineering, or related technical disciplines.
- Experience with change order processes, document control, and project administration.
- Familiarity with success metrics such as schedule accuracy and adherence, forecast and estimate accuracy, cost variance management, dashboard utilization, data quality, reporting accuracy, stakeholder satisfaction, SharePoint site adoption, and timely delivery of project analytics.
Work Environment: The position is based out of a dedicated connectivity office and offers some flexibility in work arrangements. The role operates in a professional office environment focused on utility connectivity, long-haul fiber, and grid modernization programs. The analyst regularly uses tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Power BI, SharePoint, ArcGIS or comparable GIS mapping systems, and Oracle Projects or similar project management platforms. Work involves close collaboration with project managers, engineering teams, finance stakeholders, and utility leadership, with an emphasis on data accuracy, timely reporting, and effective communication. The environment supports structured project controls, portfolio-level oversight, and the use of modern analytics and collaboration technologies to manage large-scale fiber and communications infrastructure projects.

This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
