- This position exists to arrange logistics by performing the following duties, with emphasis on Rail, Barge and Over the Road.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Schedule delivery of finished goods that support customer requirements.

- Responsible for coordination of freight, including preparation of shipping documentation.

- Transportation activities including arrangement of cost effective, seamless, and reliable pick up, deliveries, and scheduling of FlexSteel product to include coordination with trucking companies and customers together with sales and field services staff, heavy focus on domestic trucking and rail

- Solicit quotes for and secure transportation for International inbound and outbound shipments. Prepare all necessary shipping documentation as needed.

- Complete accurate and timely scheduling and dispatching of trucks and rail cars to ensure that the flow of product meets customer demands.

- Track outbound shipments from pickup through delivery so that accurate, up-to-date information can be provided regarding any shipment.

- Negotiate with transportation providers to obtain best rates and service.

- Participate in Logistics projects by managing new initiatives as they arise.

- Maintain an individual pick-up log which captures daily activity of shipments

- Monitoring of benchmarks and identification of trends and problems.

- Active involvement with problem-solving of issues presented.

- Educate internal customers on the process, rules, and regulations of export shipments

- Perform any other functions, activities, or duties as directed by Logistics Supervisor

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelors degree in business field, plus 2 to 3 years related experience; or a minimum of 3 years experience in a related field, plus the demonstrated ability to perform the functions of the position. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

- Extensive international shipping experience is a must.

- Intermediate knowledge of export compliance is a plus

- Rail and barge shipping is a plus

- Must have strong organizational skills

- Ability to keep up with deadlines on a daily basis

- Ability to handle a large amount of email communication on a daily basis

- Ability to read and interpret documents. Attention to detail is a must

- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

- Ability to effectively present information to top management and other groups. Strong communication skills.

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Requires strong communication and decision-making skills and ability to make some independent judgments.

- Must be self-motivated/self-starter and have ability to work with minimal supervision.

- Must possess experience with and be able to demonstrate proficiency in the uses of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
