About this role

Intuit Mailchimp is a leading marketing platform for small businesses. We empower millions of customers around the world to build their brands and grow their companies with a suite of marketing automation, multichannel campaigns, CRM, and analytics tools.

Forms are where a huge share of that growth starts. Signup forms, embedded forms, landing page forms, and the pop-ups our customers put in front of their own audiences are the front door to list growth on Mailchimp, and they are rendered across an enormous surface area: inside our own app, and inside millions of third-party websites we do not control. We are looking for a Staff-level frontend engineer to set technical direction for that platform.

This role is about depth, not breadth of headcount. You will own the architecture of a schema-driven, micro-frontend-based forms platform: the contracts that describe a form, the runtime that renders it, the composition layer that lets independently deployed teams ship into a shared experience, and the operational discipline that keeps all of it fast and reliable on somebody else's page. You will do that alongside product, design, and engineers across the Forms, and you will be the person other engineers come to when a rendering, contract, or performance decision needs to be made well the first time.

How you'll work

Our Core Leadership Behaviors are the observable and measurable leadership actions and skills that contribute to our effectiveness and success in our roles.

- Thriving in Complexity: You unravel and make sense of potentially sophisticated, incomplete, and contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
- Nimble Learning: You tackle problems with experimentation, using successes and failures to inform future decisions.
- Expecting the Best: You hold yourself and others accountable to meet commitments.
- Collaborating Courageously: You build partnerships across the company and work collaboratively with others to meet strategic goals.
- Cultivating Candor: You act with integrity and earn the confidence and trust of others through honesty and authenticity.
- Inclusive Leadership: You recognize the value diversity brings to our organization and leverage different perspectives to enhance organizational culture and drive performance.
- Customer Obsessed: You listen hard to customers, understand their challenges, develop relationships with them, and deliver products that remove their obstacles.
- Action Oriented: You initiate new opportunities and face tough challenges with a sense of energy, enthusiasm, and service.

Responsibilities

- Set the technical direction for the Mailchimp Forms frontend platform, micro-frontend boundaries, module federation and composition strategy, versioning and rollback, and the migration path off legacy rendering paths in the monolith.
- Own the schema contracts that drive our form experiences end to end: the schema definition, validation, versioning and backward-compatibility strategy, and the renderer that turns schema into accessible, performant UI without a code change per field type.
- Drive operational excellence as a first-class deliverable SLOs and error budgets for a client-side product, real-user performance monitoring, Core Web Vitals, structured client-side telemetry, alerting that pages on customer-visible degradation rather than noise, and blameless postmortems that actually change the system.
- Be the technical lead across the full lifecycle: scoping, design, implementation, testing, documentation, rollout, and long-term maintenance, including the unglamorous parts.
- Raise the bar for other engineers through design reviews, pairing, and written architecture guidance covering integration, performance, accessibility, and scalability and find the balance between writing code yourself and creating room for others to grow.
- Extend and contribute back to our design system: component APIs, design tokens, and theming that hold up when a customer embeds our form into their own brand and stylesheet.
- Own accessibility as a requirement, not a cleanup task — WCAG 2.2 AA conformance, keyboard and screen-reader behavior, and automated a11y checks wired into CI.
- Use AI coding agents and GenAI-assisted development as part of how you work, and help the team establish what good looks like: where agents accelerate us, where they need guardrails, and how review standards adapt.
- Share production ownership and on-call rotation with the rest of the team.

Qualifications

- You have significant experience designing and implementing frontend architectures at scale and writing code that is maintainable, performant, and observable, not just code that ships.
- You have built or substantially evolved a micro-frontend architecture in production: independently deployable frontends, shared dependency and runtime strategy, cross-team contracts, isolation and blast-radius control, and the versioning discipline that keeps it from turning into distributed spaghetti. You can speak candidly about what went wrong and what you would do differently.
- You have deep expertise in schema-driven / config-driven UI; JSON Schema or an equivalent contract language, dynamic form rendering, declarative validation, schema evolution and backward compatibility, and codegen from contracts. You understand where schema-driven design pays for itself and where it becomes an abstraction tax.
- You hold a high bar on software engineering fundamentals and operational excellence : testing strategy that gives real confidence, CI/CD and progressive delivery, feature flags, instrumentation and observability, incident response, and a track record of owning what you ship in production.
- You are fluent in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and a major component framework (React preferred), and you understand the browser deeply enough to reason about bundle size, hydration, rendering performance, and third-party embedding constraints.
- You treat accessibility and design-system consistency as part of the definition of done.
- You know when to introduce new technology and when to make do with what we already have. You know which corners can be safely cut to hit a date, and you go back and fix them.
- You are comfortable resolving ambiguity and excited about shaping both what we build and how we build it, prioritizing work, identifying dependencies, and facilitating technical decisions across teams.
- You communicate clearly in writing. Design docs, ADRs, and review comments are a core part of how you lead.
- You are comfortable working in a distributed team, and you actively build an inclusive environment for the people who join after you.

Nice to have: experience with widgets or SDKs embedded in third-party sites, large-scale monolith-to-modular migrations, edge rendering, or design-system stewardship across multiple consuming teams.
