About you and this role
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Capability Director . This role has global responsibility for work processes and teams that enable top quartile performance. In this role, you will own maintenance work processes, productivity initiatives, quality assurance systems, MRO effectiveness, and enabling technologies. You will define and deploy strategies that improve maintenance execution, strengthen equipment and facility reliability, and create consistency across regions while enabling sites and businesses to meet their objectives.
This is an opportunity for an experienced maintenance, reliability, manufacturing, or functional leader to shape enterprise maintenance capability. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong people and organizational leadership, the ability to translate corporate strategy into practical direction, and the skill to align diverse Regional, Site, Business, Purchasing, and Technology stakeholders around common standards, priorities, and outcomes.
This position can be located at most Dow locations in North America, Latin America, or Europe.
Responsibilities
- A senior leader in the OTEC Maintenance Tech Center (MTC) serves on the MTC Leadership Team to lead cross OTEC initiatives and teams aligned to the goals of the Regions, Sites, and Businesses we serve .
- Ensure external and internal benchmarking is continuous and translate benchmark insights into prioritized improvement plans.
- Define and implement strategy for maintenance productivity to drive consistency between regions and leverage best practices.
- Owner for Global Maintenance work processes. Develop work processes and lead SME teams to support Regions, Sites, and Businesses on efficiency and effectiveness of work processes.
- Own and lead the global Maintenance Quality team, setting strategy, priorities, and performance expectations for quality assurance work processes and provide expertise for shop and field work.
- Partner with Purchasing and Sites to coordinate shop inspection for major capital projects and lead new supplier qualifications.
- Own and lead digital strategy for tool and productivity use in Maintenance. (Partner with OTEC Digital Operations).
- Lead MRO work processes and establish best practices and tools to enable global optimization supporting Site and Business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree or military degree experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience.
- For U.S. Applicants: A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous people leadership experience.
- Deep knowledge of maintenance work management, planning and scheduling, execution productivity, quality assurance, MRO, inventory optimization, analytics, or maintenance technology.
- Experience establishing enterprise standards and deploying work processes across multiple regions or businesses.
- Experience with external benchmarking and translating benchmark insights into prioritized improvement plans.
- Strong financial and working-capital acumen related to maintenance and MRO decisions.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational excellence, reliability, quality, and continuous improvement.
Skills
- People Leadership: Builds, develops, and supports teams in maintenance capability expertise.
- Financial Acumen: Defines maintenance efficiency performance metrics for first quartile external benchmarking and ensures that company performance in is line with benchmarking. Establishes MRO process that enables Regional MRO success and maintains consistency and best practices globally.
- Strategic Thinking: Evaluates long-term business, reliability, and operational impacts to develop MRO strategies that meet company financial and PSR goals.
- Communication: Communicates maintenance work process and MRO objectives, risks, decisions, and performance outcomes clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Governance & Decision Management: Establishes and drives adherence to maintenance best practices, quality assurance, and MRO consistent global execution.
- Business Integration: Connects MRO strategies with reliability, maintenance, procurement, and business priorities to optimize spare parts inventory and PSR performance.
- Influential Leadership: Ability to influence and align cross-functional teams, drive a culture of reliability excellence, and secure organizational commitment to strategic maintenance and asset management initiatives.
